Multi touch possible on TP(1/2)?

The only thing i miss from iPhone and palm pre are multi touch capabilities. With W7 around the corner(and supposedly fully supported multi touch) i though we will never be able to fully utilise it on out TP's because of resistive screen. Well according tho these links we have hope?

Not possible with the current TP1/TP2 devices.

Re: Multi touch possible on TP(1/2)?

i realise its not possible in current state but this statement makes me wonder if it will be possible with software only upgrade: "Stantum's technology is a software-based refinement to resistive touchscreens... (Symbian, Windows Mobile and Android are currently supported)"

It will take more than software to bring that capability to a resistive screen

Is the video blocked? Pretty crazy stuff.

It won't happen on any resistive screen phone out now, but as long as manufacturers build the screens to their specs/guidlines multi touch is possible in the immediate future.

It may be a requirement for manufacturers to enable some features. But I'm hoping it's won't be a requirement for a hacker to get WM 7 running on a resistive screen device and just not have that extra feature. I had an iPhone and I didn't think it was that big a deal. For example in the browser it was much easier to double tap to zoom what you wanted rather than unpinch.

Re: Multi touch possible on TP(1/2)?

Well apart from the fact that it usually won't work on a resistive touch screen, the current versions of Windows Mobile (5,6,6.1,6.5 and 6.5.1) don't have any multi-touch APIs built into the software itself. HTC was able to accomplish it on the HD2 by writing their own APIs from the ground up and implementing them in their software, but until WM7 comes out, it just won't be possible.

Actually the TP1 was multi touch...just not on the screen....
