How do I change the digitizer?
Hi all,
Love the forums! Been browsing and it is great to see so much info for our phones. Anyway, I broke my digitzer (the plastic that covers the lcd screen) and I have bought another one. I was just wondering if I have to seperate the two parts of the phone? If so, is it pretty self explanatory from there? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks :) |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
I wouldn't be suprised if you have to open up the whole thing. I checked out the Iphone and it wasn't simple at all.
I checked out few youtube clips and just went w/ Asurion claim. |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
I haven't disassembled the TP2 or TP, but I know with the Apache, Titan and Wizard you have to completely disassemble the phone to get to the screen. With the 3 phones I mentioned it was pretty straight forwards: unscrew everything and remember where it went.
When it comes to the digitizer, on the wizard you had to be very careful separating it from the LCD. It's very easy to put too much pressure onto it and crack the LCD, causing another part that will need to be replaced. |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
I couldnt find anything on youtube. I have the feeling I got to pull it into pieces. Was hoping someone would tell me otherwise :P
I already bought the digitzer. I think I am going to follow the disassembly guides I have seen and go from there. Bah! Should be fun :| Cheers guys |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
All the best with that.
I have been searching around to buy a replacement Digitizer too. Where did you get yours, I have found some on ebay but I am not sure if it is compatible with Sprint Touch pro 2. I found lots of dissassembly guides for Touch Diamond but nothing for Touch Pro 2. Can you please share some of your head aches :D at |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
Well I bought mine off ebay for 30$ shipped. Was pretty happy with that!
I have a regular htc touch pro 2. My understanding was that the difference between yours and mine is purely aesthetics. My guess would be that it would work for you too. Bought it from hk-bestdigital It is just a guess... keep in mind :P I see two screws on the back of the screen which to get to... I need to pull the two parts of the phone apart. Shall let you know of my thrills in changing it :D And pulling off the "void" sticker is something that will help me sleep at night. Keep you updated... |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
Bleh! So got the two screws off the back and it wont budge. Some heavy duty clips or what? I dont want to break it, but am definitely stuck :D Plus cant get those catches off the two ribbons :(

Re: How do I change the digitizer?
so they sell those without some sort of manual to follow?
|
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
Ok, the ribbons slide out :P
The back budges slightly but Im thinking the next step is breaking rather than releasing. Eep :S I may just put it together I wait for some help :( |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
and no... didnt get anything with the digitizer. I figured Ill email them. Got nothing to lose. Hopes arent too high :) Well let you know

Ah well... the search continues! |
Re: How do I change the digitizer?
I finallllly found out how to change the digitizer and did it. The only trouble I have was I couldnt keep the sticky for the digitzer on the phone. So not the new digitizer isnt sticking so well. Any suggestions on what to use as a glue?
The hardest part is separating the chrome front from the backing. Took a fair bit of patience... Otherwise it is reasonably straight forward. Here is the link http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...hl=en&ie=UTF-8 |

lcd mounts behind the bezel. The lcd on mine seemed to be stuck on the overlapped doubled sided sticky gasket that's used to hold the lens. And yes I was impatient and cracked the lcd. :disgust: Use of a heat gun around the bezel to soften the sticky gasket is highly encouraged. |
