Phone OS (Android vs Windows)

I was wondering why the phone is locked to Windows Mobile. My thought would be that any OS should be able to made to work on the phone. Has anyone tried to make an Android ROM for this phone?

its not that the os is locked to a phone it that drivers need to be made and the os needs to be ported to the new device and that takes time money and the need for it to be made!!

Thanks for the info. It sounds like it is still a work in progress and has not been ported over to the Touch Pro 2 yet. That would make this phone awesome to have the best of both worlds available.

i agree with u it would be great to have the best of both worlds winmo/driod!!! (i say driod cuz im a big red customer)I havd it working perfect with my sprint branded ,verizon activated vogue but i have big hands and that screen is too smal for me to use the on screen kb(but the tp2 is changing me decision on onscreen kbs)!!

I wish it was that easy. Theres just a lot of driver issues to deal with. I would love to have the HTC Hero platform running on my touch pro 2.
