Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
I had all night to mess with it since I work 3rd shift and I've come to the conclusion that what I am seeing may not be anything but an optical illusion. I've never had the 1% driver before. When I did a hard reset a few hours ago, my phone said it had 75% battery before the reset. After the hard reset and before anything was installed, the battery bar showed a full battery. Once I got the nuebattery program installed, I realized it wasn't until 70% that the OEM battery bar showed any drain or bars missing. So I think that maybe being able to see each percentage of drain is making me think its running down faster.
Also, with only nuebattery installed, I checked the battery drain and it was the same as with all of the other programs installed, approximately 200 mA. But...if you notice when you first launch "Power & Backlight" in the "All Settings" menu, the discharge is much lower. Thus making me think that the nuebattery program may be causing much of this discharge. And please don't get me wrong, this program is awesome, I'm just stating what I see. When I first open the program, it shows around 45 to 90 mA after a soft reset and having done nothing before, and then after a second or two it goes to 200+ mA. Is there another program that I should try to verify this? Last edited by chrisnosleep; 10-30-2009 at 09:25 AM. |

Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
Just a litttle update , my phone has been giving me grief for about 3 days now until last night when I turned my wifi on as suggested to tested the discharge. At that time my battery was at 59% like I stated earlier. It was all I could do to avoid hard reseting and starting over but then I will never know what is causing it. Anyways I used my device for a little over 4 hours beyond that, had 32 emails , a couple of mms , a handful of sms , 3 or 4 calls from the wife, and played a level of Xtract , and about 30 minutes web usage and it only dropped 15% down to 44% total. That is more like the stamina I was getting when I first got the TP2. So the only thing I changed was enabling the wifi , checking discharge and then disabling wifi. SO it is my opinion it HAS to be soimething to do with the damned wifi.
Plus this morning I was able to check about 14-15 emails , read a couple posts on the web, and got 2 mms and 1 text and it only dropped my battery to 97% where as the last 3 days it would have easily been down to 80%. I only hope it stays this way. Or maybe I will have to enable then disable wifi after every soft reset , idk....

Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
I think what the problem we are having is that maybe wifi is ON when we reboot our phones for some reason but showing that it is off?? I'm about to hard reset, install battery monitor, and install programs one by one to see if it's a program.. but like I said, with everything off, my battery dies over night completely... this makes me think there must be a hardware problem (I'm already on my second phone though...)

Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
Just tried turning wifi on and then off, I didn't have the same result as GMB, my discharge stayed at around 300mA off and on and off again...

Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
I NEVER use wifi. It is a complete waste of resources in my opinion. If I could neuter my phone and remove the wifi I would, or better yet turn the wifi into a flash for the camera
And 1 more thing , I have not checked the nuebattery status since my drain stopped and I dont wanna either. I am afraid I will jinx it. My usage has been good all day today and with no excessive heat , but I will be able to know more by the end of the work day I think. Last edited by GrandMasterB; 10-30-2009 at 02:43 PM. |

Re: battery problem.. constantly over 300 mA discharge... Program to monitor battery
i hate to say it but nuebattery causes more problems than its worth. no2chem is an awesome geek but ive found that nuebattery & nueclockcontrol drain my battery really fast. that was my problem all along, nueclockcontrol. i was getting consistent 150-250mah drain until i uninstalled that program, then it dropped down to 40-70mah with only occasional peaks. moral of my little story- dont fudge with the processor. es no bueno. if you have either of the aforementioned apps installed, get rid of them & then check your drainage.

SO I was doing pretty good today , by 4pm after my usage this morning and A2DP streaming music for a little over 6 hours a few short phone calls and a bunch of emails I was sitting at 39%. WHile that is by no means great battery life it is acceptable. I would like to be able to make it home without my phone dying , period. But it all came crashing down in a hurry. Right at 4pm I wanted to see the current usage , even though I said I wouldnt because I didnt want to jinx it , I opened the Nuepower CPL , with nothing else open in the background no bluetooth wifi ect, and watched as my discharge started at 291mA and spiked the 741mA and watched my battery pecentage count down like a timer , 39 , 38 , 37 , 36 .... until it hit 10% and then stop. So I figured screw it I am gonna run this thing into the GROUND! So I fire back up the bluetooth blazing music and texting like a fool and in the last 1 hour and 15 minutes it has only dropped to 8%. Something is definitely wrong and I think NueCPL is at the root of the problem? Either way I am gonna drive over this thing with my truck and pick up the ugly as sin DROID instead |
