Verizon tp2 not discontinued please sticky

I am getting kind of tired of the "VZW TP2 DISCONTINUED" threads.

I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with VZW customer relations. I worked my way up through several layers of management and explained that there are numerous reports from VZW reps telling people that the TP2 is discontinued.

The calls went all the way to the folks that specify what devices will or will not be part of the VZW product lineup.

REST ASSURED THE TP2 HAS NOT BEEN DISCONTINUED! The simple fact is that sales are high and HTC has been very slow to get shipments out the door.

It appears that salespeople are making up stories to justify talking people into other devices. Remember, these folks work on commision, they want a sale NOW not when the device comes back in stock. They will tell you the device is discontinued or has problems to get you to purchase something else on the spot. They know if you wait, THEY will lose the sale to some other rep!

MODS:
Do us all a favor and sticky this.

it would be kinda dumb for a company to invest that kind of money and not even use the product. good job!

How about no. If you can't understand why it isn't discontinued by the previous posts, then just give up.

As I've stated before, if a company were to discontinue a product, the easiest way to do that is simply pull it from their website instead of continually advertising for it.

Guess what Verizon hasn't done?

These "Verizon has discontinued the TP2" memes are totally ridiculous, so ridiculous I'm surprised that we need to sticky this.

Should I also sticky a note that the U.S. Post Office isn't looking into a way to charge for email too? (no offense to the OP either, just venting too).

Sorry wish there was a better way to emphasize sarcasm in text

I too was told that Verizon was going to be replacing the Touch Pro 2. Now everyone can kick and scream "smart business" all they want, but what if in some small chance this were true? It wouldn't be the first time Verizon has done something radical like this. It isn't all that impossible to fathom either.

Verizon is launching a whole new series of phones over the next few months; Verizon could simply have a contractual obligation with HTC to sell a certain amount of different devices over a certain period of time (which would answer why they haven't pulled the Touch Pro 2 from the web site).

Keep an open mind, for ever 10 people claiming that Verizon isn't canceling the device, I can get you 20 that say they are, and all of which come from within Verizon. Its been Verizon's biggest issue; consistent and accurate training of their employees, not to mention the above statement of being on commission and trying to get paid at the end of the day by getting a customer into another device.

LOL! It's not being discontinued. Is it so hard to believe that a CS would lie to pad their paycheck? That's a lot easier to swallow than the idea VZW would invest all they have into this phone and it's launch to sell some 10k or so phones.

And how do you know this wasn't the back end of the Verizon-HTC contract? You have an obligation to continue selling or at the very least advertising HTC products. If you can't get it in stock, oh well but you're still bound by contract to have the device advertised for x amount of days.

CSR conversations are evidence for nothing and they should never be cited as representing big decisions of a carrier. Sharing that experience is fine, just don't expect anyone to believe what is being claimed is true.

It's academic: you claim something, you cite your source, which needs to be official or you have other tangible evidence (like in this case, Verizon pulls it down from their website).

Otherwise it is rampant speculation with made-up stories to try and make it fit. Reminds me of the Evo Psych field.

Indeed I don't agree that it would be smart to stop selling the phone, but with Verizon anything is possible. Off topic, anyone go check out the DroidDoes.com page today?

I'm thinkin' I'll be purchasing one in 8 days and 13 hrs lol

Read the first post over and over until you understand it folks.

I did not talk to a customer service representative. My conversation took me MUCH higher than that. If you know how to ask questions and voice concerns, your ability to talk the the right people is usually not limited. For that matter, none of you know who I am or what type of contacts I (or anybody for that matter) has with any company. For all you know my sister could have developed the product roadmap for Verizon for the next 5 years... or could be the HTC inside product sales rep..

NONE OF THAT MATTERS. The point is that if you use a bit of common sense, the answer is clear. Read the first post until it becomes clear. The nature of commission based sales and a poorly informed sales force coupled with internet nitwits and slow product fulfillment are causing the rumors.

If you WANT a TP2 and know how to ask for one, you will get one. Stock is limited, not OUT. Here is a clue, they are taking care of business customers first. A few units at a time are released to web sales and so far it looks like none to the brick and mortar stores.

The utter lack of aggregate common sense in these threads is almost funny if not sad. Yes Verizon could shock us all and really discontinue the device, but in this case you are simply seeing a commission based sales force and poorly informed CSRs do what they do and an online community turn it into a real world rumor. Nice work folks :)

So that there are not 5 threads a day posted with "Is the VZW TP2 being discontinued" where this same crap is rehashed over and over.

Indeed, just call the insurance and get a BNIB one for $89 much easier than waiting for the website or calling any of the "customer service" lines
