No More TP2's!?
 

I was having issues with my TP2 powering down on it's own. Ordered a new one through Verizon and got shipped the Imagio. So I call Verizon to let them know they shipped me the wrong phone. Long story short I was told there were no more Touch Pro2's in stock and that this was the replacement for it. I told them I wanted a physical keyboard and to see if they could find anything. He said most likely they would not be stocking the TP2 anymore in light of the "New HTC Devices coming out".
Not happy about not having a keyboard. Thinking maybe I'll swap out for the Droid when it comes out next month, if they'll let me.

Sorry but you were misinformed, vzw is not discontinuing the tp2. it is out of stock and they just sent you the a comparable phone, which they shouldnt have done without informing you....bad call on their part

yeah just called myself and still not in stock after being told it should be in stock today, by 2 people. be trying to get 1 for 2 weeks.

The stories keep popping up left and right...

The TP2 is destined to fail with VERIZON because they are forcing it to fail. This is a classic story of failure.

Follow Along:

1) Since day 1 VERIZON has pushed people to PALM and BB devices due to their lower price and public perception. They being the largest carrier in the US have driven sales AWAY from WinMO. Nothing new there.

2) The TP2 comes out and VERIZON underestimates the demand and can't keep them in stock. At the same time their lack of employee training allows idiots to confuse the TP with the TP2 and tell people it sucks or is being phased out.

3) Same idiot sales people push other devices and neglect to convey the overall demand to their managers. They begin to build their own story as to why the TP2 is out of stock so that they have something to tell customers to leverage other in stock devices.

4) The net result is that the misinformed rumors and low stock create a situation where the sales numbers for the device are terrible and the device is REALLY discontinued because management sees poor sales numbers and feedback from the sales force.

That is, no matter how good the device is, VERIZON borked it from day 1 because they were not prepared to market and sell the device and inform their employees how to sell the device. They are really only concerned with BB devices and selling ringtones and VZW TV.
