Sprint employee stated TP2 is getting WinMo7 (assumed to be false)
 

I want to start out with this: Don't get your hopes up...the stuff below is just a write up of my experience at the Sprint Store today, that's all.

Short version Sprint employee that helped me today said TP2 would be getting WinMo7. I assume he either 1. Didn't know what he was talking about or 2. Got it confused with 6.5. Either way, pretty sure what he told me is incorrect.

Long version Earlier today I stopped in the Sprint Store today to swap out my girlfriend's BB Tour for a failing trackball (apparently they can't swap the part out anymore, they have to replace the whole phone for this model). Anyway, while waiting for the BB's to be swapped, I decided to ask if the employee that was helping me if he knew if/when a WinMo 6.5 ROM would drop for the TP2, I didn't really expect much of an answer, but thought I'd ask anyway.

His response was interesting--he said, "6.5? The next update you'll get is for Windows Mobile 7." I figured he didn't know what he was talking about, I just dropped it. As I recall, the chipset of this device doesn't even meet the minimum requirements for WinMo 7 that leaked a little while back. Anyway, the refurbed BB Tour works great :P

Just thought I'd report my story to you fine folks.

I gave you thanks just cuz i give everyone a hard time for the long stories!!! FINALLY someone that gets it and puts the short story in there THANK YOU!!!

No Mobile 7 ....6.5 came out like 3 weeks ago :D

he is a bit confused about his pc and ppc OS's. no way it will run windows phone 7, other then for maybe mock up but that's about it. i have had a few customers ask how a phone can have win 6.5? so i have to explain that its completely different from a computer.

Haha, he was probably like, "yeah go down to your local best buy and you can pick it up right now".

Sprint employees know just as much about phones and software as my dad does, that is saying a lot.

haha, no problem. I started looking at how long my story was and thought, "if I saw that topic I'd want to read it...but man...that's a lot to read to just get the gist of the story"

If I have any more stories to post in the future, I'll try to post two versions.

If I am not mistaken the OP said the rep referred to it as WinMobile 7.0. Not Win7.
No where in the story did he say Windows 7.
