Wow, facebook integration = not that great

So I finally got around to taking advantage of linking people's profiles, and what I found was they sort of put this in, but then declared it done too early.

People's status updates are limited to the width of the screen, then it's "..." and when you click on it, it takes you to opera mobile. Would it have killed them to make it multiline?

Also, I thought conversations on facebook would be picked up with this thing... Am I doing something wrong?

I am in the same boat, it won't even always pick up everything. Especially pictures.

If you link your profile BEFORE you add all your contacts via activesync, then it will grab all the pictures. Pretty annoying.

it seems to grab them over a bit of time, i deleted my facebook due to my ex...glad through dashwire the profile pics are restored still though

you can manually associate profiles afterwards. easy for me but probably a pain if you have tons of contacts.

Well what I'm wondering is, the more contacts you link, does that mean more data is transferred while your phone is idle? Or does it only update when you check their contact info?

Oh, and they have all this facebook integration, but they couldn't include the accounts manager thingy that added "Upload to facebook" as a menu option in the album?

They definitely were headed in the right direction with this phone, but why can't a company just think logically with little things like this...

Yeah, but it could have been implemented here as well. Heck, I had it on my tp1 with mightyrom 4.16 lol

You could tell they just put it in there as a work in progress.
I think SPB mobile shell does a really good job linking profile pictures compared but again does not do anything else.

Re: Wow, facebook integration = not that great

well once the unlocker is released you'll have plenty of "leo" roms to flash with that option built in

that is what i was wondering. i couldnt find any settings for it. i know on the hero there are settings ranging from i believe 2hrs to 24hrs. it will auto check for updates every 24 hours. there was no setting for a manual update. i imagine the tp2 is auto checking for updates at a set interval.

i believe that i read somewhere that it updates on its own every hours but dont quote me on it

I wish there was a facebook tab, like how Twitter has one in mania 2.5

+1 for a Facebook tab. I can't find an easy way to work with it within Manila otherwise and end up hitting the m.facebook bookmark.

I agree that, from a notifications standpoint, Blackberry has it nailed, with it handled as a separate alert, etc.

It says it updates every 2 hours, but there's no way to edit that.

i just wanted to say i love the app, u can also download the facebook application if u want as well, its free i know the sprint site offers it..... also i love just having the pictures updated, i have over 500 friends on facebook and i have a lot of them in my phone, im not one to look at everyones status on facebook or my phone, i just dont have the time or care for that, being my age (20) people call it stalking, though its public information, looking at someones status all the time is kind of creepy, though i know the drama girls do it =P, i do agree on the 2 lines for the status, i also dont think its a big deal to load the page (mines pretty fast). i do wish the app allowed for contacts to be downloaded to the phone via facebook phonebook to your contacts list. also this application is very good with detecting a name in contacts if its shortened or misspelled a bit, thou you have to almost manually do it. i personally love it, and its a step in the right dirrection, thou i do wish it was better.

touch.facebook.com works best for me. Thanks for the tip! I like it a lot. Way better than the useless FB WM app.

Is there a cab to add the upload to FB feature to the album? There used to be something like that for the TP. Could still be a while until we get the unlocker.

I have tried the Touch Site ... but the events (status updates, news feeds etc) are not in chronological order? The first couple are from yesterday, then and update from an hour ago, then two days ago etc... anyone else seeing this when they go to the touch site? The Mobile Site seems to be working fine for me though.
