TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

Im a little shocked at my battery life on this device. I've had it for less than a week, but so far it seems to outperform my TP by far!

8 hours of mild usage, push email, phone calls, surfing the net, NFL Mobile Live, 30 mins of using Garmin XT, etc etc ..... and after 8 hours I still have 75% battery life. Which seems strange because according to NueCPL, I have a discharge of 287.

Anyone else getting great battery life?

So far, my TP1 was actually better (!) I don't know if it is because I have been playing with it too much (new phone you know the drill haha) or if something is wrong with mine.

I am getting great battery life too, especially if i dont use my bluetooth headset to listen to music all the time. Even with a few hours of music, texts and emails through out the days, it's been holding up quite well. I charge once daily.

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

Yeah, I used to carry an extra TP battery with me. I had a car charger, a charger at work, and 3 in the house (depending on where I was). And I attend college football games and I always have to swap out the battery @ the 2nd quarter (I think the phone is searching in my pocket). Well... yesterday I attended a game... I went the entire drive to the game (3 hours), then tailgating for a few hours, the entire game, and then about an hour into the drive home I hit 20% so I threw it on the charger. And this was all awhile texting the wife, my brother texting another games score, and me checking the internet for scores.

NOT BAD!

I think the most tp2 users can agree that the tp2 battery performs way better than the tp1. As much as I play with my phone and use it so much more now because of the larger screen, my phone sits on the charger half as much as my tp1 did.

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

I wouldn't say it's the best, but it is definitely up there.

Actually, in terms of battery life, the Snap/Ozone/Intrepid/Treo Pro/Touch Pro 2 and even Pure get very good battery life.

Some of that is WM6.5, which helps a lot, for others it is the 1500mAh battery which seems to be the sweet spot.

Either way, it's a common trait with recent WM devices that I'm very happy about.

Definitely the best wm phone device I've owned as far as battery life is concerned!

I wish this was the case for me, I get pretty much identical battery life between the TP1 and TP2 =(

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

I agree. The best so far I have seen in a windows mobile device. I am getting almost an hour talk time, 20 hours device usage and 20 hours standby time before it's time to recharge!! Amazing!!

HTC HD2 uses Snapdragon which has extremely low voltage/power usage. As technology advances and processors get stronger they also work to get them more power efficient.

My battery life is pretty bad =/ I'm getting on a moderate use about 20% after 10 hours. I'm hoping that I can get another battery.

I haven't had enough winmo devices to say its the best, but from the devices I've had, it would perform the best out of the ones I have had.

mala brings up an excellent point. The Smartphones without keyboards usually do get great life (no touch input system to power, as well as less layers of screen to backlight).

Regardless if it is the best..... it is better than my Apache, Mogul, Touch Pro, and Diamond! I haven't had it on the charger since 8AM and it is sitting at 60%....and I am still using it!

I agree, the best battery life of any windows phone I ever had, and I have had a lot, ecept for an old HP one I had that had an 200mhz proccessor, and I finger bang my phone all day, and I have push email accounts...but the crazy thing is my sprint touch pro2 out last my friends HTC Snap, I would think his would be better and they both use the same battery???

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

My PPC6800 lasted me about 10 hours before it needed to be recharged.
In a comparison, I recharge my TP2 every other day, not because it needs to be recharged, but just to keep it full.
And I use it more than double the amount of my PPC6800.

My Omnia running 6.5 can last days before needing a charge, but I was still pleased with the TP2's battery, that is until I read some of the posts here, now I'm starting to wonder if my battery's bad... used the tweaks to kill push internet, etc, using it for some phone calls, E-mails hourly and some texts and I can get about a day...

Most def.
This is my longest lasting windows battery.
My original touch lasted quite a bit... but I didn't use it half as much.

Not mine. I think I have a memory leak somewhere that drains my battery. I can go from like 100% - 87% in 12 minutes. That's just walkin' from work to the subway.

You may have a defective battery. Id take it into a Sprint store ASAP!

My battery, with push mail enabled, light surfing, several phone calls, numerous texts and my usual basic buffoonery lasts me all day long...only sometimes requiring a charge at the end of the night. Im very pleased with it so far. Cant wait to see what it will be like with wm6.5 on it!

Are you still on the touch pro? I only ask cuz of your profile.
(probably haven't updated it)

But anyway... I had major battery issues while running s2u2. None since I uninstalled it.
Do you have any memory hog apps? or running it mostly stock?

I just don't understand how yall are getting such great battery life. I have tried everything (a new battery, uninstalling S2U2, Good4lifes cleanup cab, etc) and I can still only make it from about 8:30 AM until about 8:30PM before my battery beeps at me. All I have enabled is push exchanged and one gmail account checking every 5 min and I do light texting and web browsing. Could it be that I got yet another defective battery, does the push email and gmail account really drain the battery that quick (therefore, is this battery life to be expected) or do I just have a defective phone? Ahhh help! =P

Out of curiosity, did you use 6.1 at all (or for long) before 6.5? I'm just curious about how much difference people are seeing between 6.1 and 6.5 with similar usage (I know it won't tell me a whole lot about stock 6.5 whenever Sprint gets around to releasing it, but...meh).

Really, asking anyone who has used 6.1 on it and moved up to 6.5, any thoughts?

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

I'm having a similar experience as Siflan & Mjodotcom. I use my phone as a music player while at work- maybe 5 combined hours of solid music playing plus some minimal data usage during breaks & lunch, but my battery is down to 50-40% by the end of the day. It often feels warm too, and my discharge is always kinda high for no reason(between 150 & 250 mah). I have every battery tweak I know of enabled, and no S2U2 or Phonex or anything either. Methinks I have a memory leak or a rogue program. It was really good when I first got it but it's gotten worse lately. I might try hard resetting tonight & keeping it minimal tomorrow & seeing what results I get. Gods please don't make me go through the 9th level of defective battery HELL again with this phone too(I had 3 defective fried batteries with my old TP).

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

So you ended up going through three batteries eh? Did the fourth one end up giving you the performance you were looking for? I can't decided whether or not to keep exchanging batteries or if it is the phone that is the culprit. 12hours if life is just unacceptible, thats even worse that my TP1 =X

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

i could prolly blow the battery in 12 hours if i tried...depends on usage and what your doing. with average use i get 2 1/2 days

Re: TP2, best battery life of WM devices?

The 4th was pretty bad too, it heated up all the time but mercifully didn't fry completely out. I'm wondering if it's something I regularly install that's fubaring things, cause it's just logically impossible that I keep getting one bad battery after another. I just hard reset & I'm keeping it pretty bare for a day to see if it gets better. Wish me luck : /

I've used a ton of devices recently and I've just noticed that WM6.5 gets very good battery life in general.

Unfortunately I haven't had a stock 6.1 vs a stock 6.5 on the same device--closest was the Treo Pro, but that has a hacked 6.5 ROM which was better on battery--all though that it my opinion/experience and I didn't test it directly.

Assuming the WinMo team isn't lying (lol), WM6.5 is optimized for battery and memory usage and at least unofficially, that feels accurate when using them.

Sure, but the thing is I do not have to try at all to make it 12 hours. Under fairly light use, thats all I get out of it. Two batteries now, same result. What I am wondering is should I try replacing the battery yet again or would it be worth trying to get the phone replaced?
