Modified my XV6700 Dock
This was just a quick and dirty proof of concept. But it worked and worked well. I thought you all would like to see how it turned out. I used a CD Jewel Case for the plastic. I used a Dremel to cut slots in the dock to hold the plastic, then hot glued the plastic in place. If I were paying attention, I would have only made the slots on the inside, but I went all the way through - just wasn't paying attention. Also, if you do this, be sure to take the unit apart so you don't cut through the wires inside (who? Me?). I have 4 units so I plan on making a more finished version. Possibly even with a lighted plastic panel.

Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
did you not have to shave some of the recessed area in the front to get the phone to sit completely down and connect to the mini-usb plug? i've checked this out with my 6700 dock and my TP2 wont go all the way down.

Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
Not at all. You do, however, have to remove the pin that goes in to the XV6700's audio port for stability.

Thanks - Thought about it but wasn't sure it would work. |
Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
Thanks all. I'm going to attempt to put more time into it this weekend and make the next one "prettier".

Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
You should look into modifying the ProClip car docks. I have one for my Mogul and had one for the 6600. As you replace them they are 60-80$. They now have one for the TP2, a slick solution, but costly.

Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
I was looking for a dock for this phone and thought I could do something with my old 6700 dock but the TP2 didn't fit in it. I thought the bottom of the TP2 was too wide for the cradle. I will try again tomorrow and see if I can get this to work. Thanks for the idea!
Also, can a spare battery for the TP2 be charged in this charger? |
Re: Modified my XV6700 Dock
Well it looks like after I cut the plastic nub off the TP2 fits nicely. Also, check out this post for how to mod the unit to charge TP2 battery:
