There seems to be two different SMS screens. The first one is when you hit all messages, you get the standard dealie. The second way is when you hit the message that's previewed on the tab.

I personally like the latter better. What's annoying is the Send button is in the spot where "back" is on the other. I hit that back button alot. Is there a way to default to one or the other? Or some other awesome way?

Nope, no way to change the keys. That annoyed me too and caused me to ultimately stop using HTC's threaded sms.

You can get rid of the annoying HTC style messaging all together though
