Re: Mixed feelings about the 6.5 upgrade???

I really liked WM6.5 on my TP. WM6.1 has been the same interface since WM2003.
It irritates me that the Imagio is out with WM6.5 and ours is the same but with an external keyboard. Come on Sprint and VZW get the WM6.5 upgrade out already!

Do you think all the people waiting for the hspl are like "I cant wait to make an unstable rom but has all the new features but is unusable" no body is waiting for that. Any stock rom can always be made better, and that is what the kitchen is for. anybody not willing to do it is just scared or lazy. I'de bet my paycheck the rom i cook will be 10x's better then the sprint rom, I GURANTEE IT.

I will be honest you, I have flashed to over 30 different custom roms on my Diamond alone - most of them 6.5, and I NEVER found one that was close to fully stable. Most would seem fine until after about a week when they all started acting weird requiring multiple soft resets and sometimes hard resets. While the customs are often faster and offer more features, I believe the stock is more stable. I think the stock offer the "just work" potential much more than customs which while fancy might not be more effecient. I am fully satisfied with the rom on the TP2 and am not eager to upgrade to a custom rom, except to rid myself of all of the carrier BS that they pack the shipped roms with. Heck they are already complaining about how slow the Imagio is moving and the fact that it hogs so much memory. Hey, if it aint broke dont brake it. :scratch:

6.1 os is very broken and outdated. people are beginning to think touch flo is actually part of microsoft's design. what about all the people like myself that despise tf3d. have you tried to use your phone with it disabled. 6.1 is not a very finger os.

also if you give mighty mike, juicy, cfay, or any other popular chef i promise you they could create a more stable rom with that exact same build. anybody could create a better rom, all they would have to do is create the exact same 6.5 rom without tf3d and it will run smoother just because it has no manilla files.

Initially cooked ROMs will have bugs, but they are fixed very quickly.

@p-slim
Will you make a post in the CDMA UPgrade sub-forum for your ROM? I would like to try it out.

thanks, i take that as a complement but i dont save my roms. i use calkulins kitchen because his sys' and oems are perfect. i do not know how to save it as a rom. i only know how to cook then it automatically creates the rom when i press finish. if you have your tp1 or diamond still, you should play around with bhis visual kitchen.

as for my 6.5 rom, jmz has created a 6.5 kitchen in the upgrades section and i have just loaded a 23064 sys, but i need to try it out. i have this rom just chillin on my computer and its driving me crazy i cant test. if the hspl is uploaded at 3am i will wake up :)

Well I guess time will tell. You certainly make alot of valid points about 6.1 being antiquated and not very finger friendly though I personally prefer to use it with Touch flowhich seem to offer some sort of a hybrid. Don't get me wrong, I will be flashing ASAP but I can freshly recall alot of the frustrations with custom roms like turning on my phone to show someone something simple and having to tell them to give me a minute because the app isn't acting right or the screen is frozen again. Like everyone else, I simply want the best experience and if 6.5 proves to be it, then that's where I will be. I guess the OP hit the topic on the head because the subject do conjure mixed feelings with substantial concerns from both perspectives. :???:

no we're both right, thats what makes windows so great. you can run 6.1, with or without tf3d or even spb, or you could run 6.5 with or without the options. the iphone doesnt have those type of choices :)

that all you had to say instead of running up in the thread, getting emotional, and calling people crazy, no?

So true my friend, so true. The only thing that the Iphone ever had on us was a bigger screen and now we've got the big screen. If we want to get technical we actually have a bigGER screen...lol I hope the unlocker is created soon so you can get to work; I know how it is t be waiting like that... similar to me during the weeks preceding the Sept 4th TP2 availability.
