Screen dims after about 5 seconds
 

This is quite anoying, but my screen will dim after about 5 seconds. I have to touch the screen for it to brighten up again. I have been through all the settings and nothing should be making it do that. It doesn't go completely black, it just dims.

Any idea how I can turn this "feature" off?

Settings>All Settings (in lower left)>System Tab>Power Icon>Backlight Tab>uncheck "Auto Adjust Backlight". I think that goofy thing may be involved

I already have that turned off.

Still dims and is driving me NUTS!

Settings > All Settings > System > Power > Advanced >
adjust - Turn off backlight if device is not used for_ , to whatever you want

10 sec
30 sec
1 min,
2 min,
3 min,
4 min,
5 min, or uncheck it altogether.

oopsI'm sorry. searched and somehow ended up in TP 2 thread. ALMOST got that phone, still may come to it if I don't keep this Hero at end of my 30 days. Looks like similar problems! lol


I have the same problem, backlight/screen will dim while I'm using it. It doesn't turn completely off, just dims. I have no SYSTEM under settings. No power related options under settings.

I have American Sprint HTC Hero, not the European version, if that changed the options available under settings.

Settings > Sound & display > Screen timeout

I experience the same problem at times and just gave up on it.
