With all these boohoo stories about people leaving the TP2 for the Hero and whatnot, I thought it was time for a good Sticking with my TP2 thread.

So far I've been with my TP2 for almost 3 weeks and cannot stop loving it. Compaired to my old TP1, it is just a vast improvement in the terms of useability, speed (even with the same speed processor), and overall quality. The TP1 worked but even after tweeking and flashing the bejebus out of it, it never quite worked 100%. A rom would look and run fantastic for a period of time but out of nowhere it would lock up, have glitches in certain apps and programs, and sometimes render the phone unuseable. When it worked it worked great, but it also always seamed that you were patching the phone together with different parts from other phones that never worked quite right. Even thought the TP2 is still on the stock Sprint rom, it is amazingly stable, fast, and feature filled. With the tweeks found all over this site the phone has been tuned to perfection while also remaining stable. The phone portion itself is also greatly improved. On the TP1 I played with a few different dialers but they never worked quite right all the time. Often times I had issues where I would try to answer a call but the phone would hang a few sec and end up missing the call before it picked up or when I hung up a call, it would stay in the call while looking like it hung up. A bit annoying for sure.
On the physical side the TP1 had the nifty touch of chrome and a D-pad with the nifty led lights, and a Flash. I kind of miss those (having the front edge of the TP2 in chrome would have been a nice touch) and the flash made a fantastic flashlight.

Besides that the TP2 screen is much bigger and more useable then the TP1. Even with vga the tp1 was just too small a screen to really take advantage of the res. My 5 year old x50v is vga with still a much bigger screen then both devices and it works fantastic for all my multimedia and gaming needs. Its still better than either TP in that aspect.

The overall feel of the TP2 is much more solid, better built, and it overall has a smoother feel. It is a pleasure to use and hold with a bit more solid heft to it. The other positive notes like the larger keyboard, tilt, and speakerphone are all a given how much I like them.

The only real negative I have with the phone is the volume buttons. Some of you say you disliked the buttons being flush on the old TP1 but being how you hold the phone when using the keyboard, my fingers that hold the phone up are right at the lower volume button and always hit it when im typing with the KB. It is really anoying and I have to think about my finger placement when typing.

Well its a bit of a mashup comparison but theres most of my thoughts. I do not know how you could leave this phone for an inferrior device even with a different OS that might seem better at a time. I cannot wait for the HSPL or at least the official 6.5, but I can say I do love my phone in all its 6.1 Glory.

I moved to a vzw Touch Pro2 from the 6800. I purchased the tp2 just a coulple of days after it came out for verizon. The one thing that makes me love this phone is that it has memory and storage. I used to hate trying to balance programs that were running because of low memory.
Of course wvga doesn't hurt either.
Sometimes I miss having extra buttons and a D-Pad, but I quickly adapted. The phone is called "TOUCH" for a reason. :)

I am eagerly awaiting hspl like every one else, but this phone is so functional that I am not dying for it. I may not even flash a new rom untill I get bored with the stock. Also the Tweaks cab from Goodthings2life was all I needed really to make this phone what all my other "smart phones" should have been.

After purchasing this phone I could not be any happier. I also don't see any reason to become unhappy with it yet. (well verizon data cost, but that is not the phones fault!)

I agree with most of what you say (although my TP was 100% stable running the latest NFSFAN ROM)

The one thing I completely totally disagree with is the chrome comments however.

I always thought that chintzy poor quality chrome looked awful (I put a black innocase over it so I didn't have to look at it), I am so glad Verizon made all that trim black on my new TP2.

I love my tp2 as much as i can. the proposed features all work good as they should, proximity sensor, speaker phone, larger screen, better battery, and even the response is better. But lets face it, 6.1 is sooooooooooooo outdated its not even funny anymore. I have my tp1 running a 23060 rom and i honestly like that better then my tp2 at the moment. I love the direction 6.5.1 is going. once the hspl comes, then this phone can truely be the upgrade i wanted.

uh mike thats not the same thing. That thread was started soon after the tp2 was released, the results should be different. this thread wants to know who still loves their tp2 months later.

i don't care what people have to say about the TP2, i could honestly say i am using the best WinMo device available. I enjoy using my TP2 every single day.... I have install many apps, games and tweaks. I extremely HAPPY...

i been in love since Sept 24, when i (married) i got my lovely Touch Pro 2.....

she rides with me everyday, sleep with me everyday, we go to the toilet everyday, we work everyday, we play games everyday, and she let me do what ever i want to her, not like my ex (touch pro 1) that she would complain about stupid stuff, you know she would'nt let me watch my daily news, porn ect...

until she recently she passed away, she was suffering from stroke (keyboard failure) and and severe flu (rainbow effect)....

nah i sold her the next day i got my tp2 and was working fine tho...

but call me evil, i dont miss her a bit.....

I already love my TP2 :smile: Bought it for about an week ago and it is my first WM Device. My previous one was SE W880i which I dumped it very fast because it pissed me off. I'm a big htc fan and it is my first phone so it is a big step for me to such a powerful device!"

had mine for a couple weeks and it is great. I'm not sure if i'm going to flash either, i only did it with the SSK rom because of how much faster it made it run. I guess I'll try one out when the come out to see though. for the most part all the tweaks and themes fulfill my needs.

I don't think i'll be purchasing another phone for a looooong time.

OP, you typed all that from your TP2? (I saw on the top it say "Wirelessly posted"). Awesome!

I love the TP2. Got it a few days after the Verizon release, friend got his VZW a few days before me, and another friend got his Sprint a few days before that. We both came from TP1's, (I came from an XV6700 > XV6800 > TP1 > TP2), and each step has shown big improvements! Although, I think I take all these advancements for granted - there are so many great features of the phone that aren't taken into consideration, but I definitely appreciate them more and more. Each phone, HTC comes out in strides, although some people really tend to bring attention to the minute faults).

Quick note, I saw a comparison of the N97 to the TP2, and I some people complain the tilting screen is too "loose", I don't think it's too loose, but after comparing it to the N97, I suppose I see what they mean. But look how ugly the tilting mechanism is on the N97! I'm very happy with the way ours tilts. I love our dual speakerphones, dual microphones (for speakerphone use), I also love the speaker grill - very attractive! (especially compared to the TP1), the phone looks and feels high quality, great ergonomics, chrome trim around the camera, etc... aesthetically... it's amazing! Slide out keyboard - each phone gets better and better. Keyboard buttons - I think everyone will agree these are very attractive, easy to use, doesn't stick, and presses all the time (sometime 'A' and 'FN' on my last phones wouldn't press).

Absolutely love this phone, and I'm happy to pay the premium price I pay for my VZW service (can't have an awesome phone on a cheapo plan with no data). I don't really have too many complaints. I do agree WM6.1 is outdated (I had it 2 phone generations ago (XV6800), and I do like the improved Touch Flo 3D 2.1 on our phones, but I am drooling over 2.5/2.6! Although I'd like to point out, HTC has once again come out strong with their Touch Flo 3D improvements over each of their phones.

My only complaints: no flash, no camera button (how can I take self portraits, lol), and for some reason, the camera really isn't good. N97 has a 5MP Carl Zeiss? We need an advanced camera app, the HTC app is weak, basic, and doesn't take good pics. But I'm confident they will fix this in the future.

I was going to do the "try-out-the-Touch-Pro-2-and-return-it-for-a-Hero-within-30-days" routine. I came up from the Mogul to the Touch Pro and my love for HTC devices deepened. I have always been interested in Android since I am a Google Fanboy:twisted:. After about 2 days with my Touch Pro 2...I knew I was NOT going O/S jumping anytime soon.

I've had mine for nearly a month and just activated the radio portion two days ago and I can truly say that I'm very happy with this device because of the following:

1) More memory- its nice to install all the programs on this device's main memory that I previously had to store on the storage card on my 6800. I still have plenty of room left over.
2) Screen resolution - much nicer and videos play great on it.
3) Keyboard- much nicer spacing and really cool looking led shadow effects under the keys.
4) Processor- much quicker to do anything
5) Opera- I can finally check my bank accounts on-line (IE wouldn't work and my bank only had provisioning for AT&T customers)
6) No lock-ups, very stable - I've only had to soft-reset this thing when I was installing software.
7) People are always impressed when they see it and what it can do
8) Calls seem to be clearer- still need to install Audiopara but the volume is better stock than my 6800 was.
9) Touch Flo- I find it easy to use and don't feel the need to install SPB Mobile Shell on this device (really liked it on the 6800 though).

I'm sure I won't feel the urge to upgrade to something else for a long time.

Ok... one month as of yesterday. And..... I still love it.
TP before this and Touch before that... and several not so smart phones prior to that.
I love all the things you all mentioned but I am poised and ready to buy the Leo if it comes out on Sprint.
I want more internal memory, more ram, better battery, capacitive screen, faster processor, and windows 7. Not sure the leo will have all that but we'll see then.
Anyway. I really love my phone and am looking forward to the improvements 6.5 should bring.

Had mine about a month and still lovin' it. I hope it serves me well for a long time. I've never kept a phone thru the length of a two year contract. With all the upgrades and cooked roms coming I'm hoping for enough variety that this will be the keeper device. I'm growing weary of the cash outlay for all the phone swaps , so I'll be babyin' my baby and hoping for a nice long relationship!:toothy7:

I just got back from the TP thread, They got a thread Titled: (The TP2 could be better) They are basically stating why they are not upgrading,They are totally misinformed about the TP2 like how the TP2 has less ram and rom than the TP, One guy even said multitasking is better on the TP, Another guy stated how the cpu chip is newer in the TP therefore is better than the one used for the TP2.

One guys argument was does you phone have a flashlight Lol, I told him we don't need a flashlight because our screens are big enough to luminate a whole room.

I was defending us TP2 users and told them stop lying to themselves and the only reason that thread existed was because they want assurance that its ok not to upgrade.

lol funny...tho hun lol some of the things they said are tru. The processor is older but it's for better gps (no lag with tp2) and the the tp has more rom and ram. I've filled up my tp2 internal memory once and i never did when i had my tp..but nevertheless I still love my tp2 way over my tp!!!

I've had mine for about a month and I still marvel at how much better it is than my TP and Mogul before that. It just works so much better and since I am an "Old Geek" at 56 I REALLY appreciate the screen real estate compared to the TP. I will admit I have done mods in the way of various cabs but have stayed with the stock roms. I have done more to my tp2 than both previous phones and it is stable beyond belief! It is a business phone primarily so I really can't afford to muck it up playing with some obscure function enhancement cab that might cause problems.
Aside from some learning curve issues with respect to editing text and message selection / organization it is just far superior and I would never consider going back.

The ram and rom are idenical, once we start flashing our TP2 and rid all that bloatware and pre loading at startup you will notice they are the same. The cpu on the TP is a MSM7200 which is newer and has the CDMA radio, The TP2 cpu is a MSM7600 which is older but has the GSM/CDMA radioI consider the MSM7600 a upgrade

2 stuck white pixels (only visible in camera mode in a dark room).

Rub marks from opening and closing the keyboard.

1 hard reset after a .cab broke my clock and uninstalling the .cab didn't fix it.

I seriously still LOVE this device. It's the best Windows Mobile device I've owned (and I've been a WinMo user for just over 15 years). Now running a combo of the At0m Enhanced 3D driver and NeoS 2007 Driverpack 3. Touchflo freakin' FLYS!!! (as does everything else on the device. Smooth as silk.

This is going to be the "it" device for the next 12-18 months until Windows Mobile 7 comes out in conjunction with the next generation processors.

Had mine for well over 2 months now and love it as much now as when I first got it. Still lovin' this keyboard more than any other...same goes for the screen. Can't really find any major fault with it. My original concerns about a lack of d-pad have gone...you adapt.

I was never really happy with my TP1...hence why I switched back and forth between that and my 6800 originally, and then a Treo Pro later on. Back then I was still looking for the ultimate smartphone, and the TP1 wasn't it. Then the TP2 came along. I've not regretted the upgrade for an instant.

Actually I do have one complaint, and that is the BT issues...but hey, nothing's perfect in this world, but this ain't far off :mrgreen:

This is true, the TP and TP2 have the same ammount of rom and ram, after tweeking the ram can be as free as on the TP but the Rom is kinda small atm. Still no real issue. If the 7600 is older than the 7200 it sure doesnt feel like it since it doesnt overheat and seams to definitly run faster than the old TP. The phone still has a problem with heat from charging instead of the radio this time (with my waterproof motorcycle mount) still working on a fix but it still isnt near as bad as my old TP2.

I just spent some time with my old TP1, which I am handing down to my wife.. And OMG, that phone sucks!

Made me appreciate how beautiful and responsive the stock TP2 is. The people who think the TP2 is just a screen upgrade over the TP1 are silly.
