so I still have an unread text....
 

Ive already copied the text message fix for multiple unread text dll for the fix the multiple text unread error... It has worked fine for days, but I have an unread text still and I have even tried to clear all sms/mms which has still not fixed my issue.... anyway I can just clear my sms ticker once. I have searched which havent fixed the issue... any help would be nice. thanks!!

Ok I was wrong, weird issue... I tried the reg edit to clear the ticker for unread sms/mms... but it worked as soon as I closed out the regeditor, but as soon as I received a new sms it still showed the 1 unread text. I dont get it!!! I even tried to clear sms after the fix and also soft reset, still no fix. I am showing one unread sms/mms... please someone help this is driving me crazy and I really dont want to hard reset. Again thanks!!!!

I'm also having this issue, home screen and SMS / MMS Inbox reads there is 1 unread message. I cleared all the messages, soft reset, and took out the battery but to no avail.

try this...

send yourself a text message. or have someone else send u one.
do not read/open the text once u get it.
take your battery out for 2 solid minutes.
Then turn on phone and delete text.
icon should be gone.

Often this is the result of having done a restore of a backup at some point. Or viewing a text when a new one comes in containing a picture.

Here's one possible way to fix this, although it doesn't always.

Simply send yourself a picture message (MMS). After the message has been sent. While you’re waiting for it to come back go into your text messages and read the first one. Stay in the message screen and wait for the MMS to be delivered. Once it’s been delivered and you see the “New Message” indicator at the top of the screen, scroll left once. This should now display the MMS that you just sent yourself. Now go back to the Today screen. Voila! No more “phantom” unread message!
