HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
New Response From [ Cheryl (North America Support (Tech)) ]
Hello Gary, Thank you for inquiring about Windows Mobile 6.5 update. I understand wanting to keep the device up-to-date. Regretfully, HTC does not currently have a software update for your device. The carriers request all software updates for the devices that they offer from HTC. Once the carrier contacts HTC about updating the software or changes to the devices, HTC’s Research & Development Team work with same department from the carrier to create the software. When and update is created it is tested by the carrier and then HTC host the software on our web site for download by customers free of charge or on http://www.pcdphones.com/uts_downloads.aspx. The updates are individually adaptered for each device and carrier. You can also visit www.htcwiki.com for self-help and to participate in a survey. Thank you, Kay HTC Technical Support apparently the press releases say tp2 would be upgraded may have been just aneffort to move inventory As i stated in another post Vzw Teir2 tech says no date for upgrade now HTC seemsto verify this so hopefully one of our more ingenious coder will be able to resolve this issue But we have to admit these TP2's are great devices |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
Is everyone at HTC's email support named Kay? I emailed them about how to register my S/N on their e-club and it was Kay who responded.

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
That's called a canned response. It won't be updated until AFTER they release the update. They never tell you "its about to come out" as that will only cause you to call and email them more often as they'll never provide a specific date until it is imminent.
I would expect when they hit stores on the 20th they very well may have 6.5 and then the update will be available for download, but maybe that is wishful thinking... |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
Contacting HTC support is about as effective as pissing in the wind. We all know 6.5 is coming for the Touch Pro2, just sit tight if you want the official release. Aside from that, the Dev team is working hard on the HardSPL unlocker and we'll have custom ROMs before too long.

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
I really don't understand why so many people are hard for the official release.
Once the hardspl is out, it's game on and that will surely come before an official carrier release. |

I agree, once we get hardspl who cares about official ROM's. ~John |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
Given how good the stock roms are for the CDMA phones and what 6.5 offers I don't see the excitement for an official release.
If you had a look at the ROM on the HD2 (Leo) that's what I want and only the hardspl will get me that I'd be more looking forward to that if anything. |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
i think that we will get a stock 6.5 rom. but honestly who cares? once we get an unlocker we can run whatever we want on our phones.

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
I bumped into a "friend of a friend" (really! I've had beers with him before) last night who also happens to work at a Verizon store and asked him about the upgrade to 6.5 and he told me that there weren't any plans from verizon to upgrade the OS in the tp2. His language was much more colorful however...

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
The update is coming in Oct/Nov. Check out this official Microsoft site:

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
that means nothing. that just says when windows 6.5 will come out. not when it will come out for vzw.

Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
sorry man. i did a search for some 6.5 tweaking and this thread came up.
See, I installed the official update, but lost all the changes from the TP2 cleanup that GoodThings2Come posted. Any chance you could help me? 1) disable the HTC messaging that came with 6.5 update to the default windows messager and 2) Increase the number of tabs on Opera that I lost in the update? This is why i bumped this in the first place. been searching for these things on here for a couple hours now. |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
ok for the opera tabs, open opera and in the address bar type in
opera:config navigate to user prefs (you should be able to just search for tabs) and increase the maximum allowed tabs to whatever you want to disable the htc messaging you just need to install the following cab try this but i'm not sure it will work for 2.1 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...6&d=1265412290 |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
the messaging worked great, thanks!
But i increased the number of opera tabs to 5 and saved.hit save yet still only have 2 usable tabs... any further suggestios? |
Re: HTC Response to Verizon tp 2 upgrade
