Re: Align Screen - Response from HTC

At least I know why my phone wants the screen to be aligned when I take it out of my case.

good to know,

Sorry I was a little frustrated. I should have added that this always happens to me when I reach into my pocket to answer my phone. The align screen pops up over everything else, usually causing me to miss the phone call.

I understand why they'd need to have a shortcut for this (as described) but this one is a little too easy for to hit. it would make more sense to incorporate it to the reset button. Like, press reset and hold windows key while it boots or something... the frequency of people messing with your screen alignment as a joke is probably small enough that a soft reset wouldnt cause any problems...

Anyway sorry for my initial hyped response. It would be nice if the thread starter would reply to the HTC support rep and ask if this is a registry setting that can be changed to something less likely to be pushed.

Thanks

Re: Align Screen - Response from HTC

I've found that even if I have S2U2 active, I can get the alignment screen up, trying to do its thing, behind S2U2. I end up having to pull the battery to get past it (or I'm sure I could just push the reset button). I'd love to see a registry key for this, but it behaves more like a ROM level setting (or something similar).

Does the HTC TP2 Keyboard map program fix this? I know volume up/down aren't on the keyboard but I saw people saying the microphone mute button on the back could be used to rotate the screen, etc...

I think this feature is very handy. I actually found out by mistake (don't remember why), and now used it during a game where I noticed the alignment was off. Just a quick calibration, and back to the game.

Good job HTC!!

Whats even more amazing is that people couldnt figure out they were hitting both volume buttons at the same time while removing they're phone from the case. :)

is there a regedit to disable this? i have had it go to align screen and the only way to clear it is to pop the battery out.

this is annoying and a stupid feature

Re: Align Screen - Response from HTC

I have a fix for this!

It is a hardware fix, but it works, and more importantly (for me anyways) it confirmed that 100% of my Align Screen issues were from this "feature".

Here is the fix:
1. Remove the battery cover, and carefully remove the volume button assembly from the rest of the cover by removing the tops of the 2 melted plastic pins. (I spun a small drill bit with my fingers)

2. Take a piece of fine wet/dry sandpaper and tape it to something flat. Put a little water on it, and sand down the buttons so that they are slightly recessed to the battery cover when held back in place.

3. Reinstall the volume button assembly, with a drop of glue on each plastic pin, or re-melt the plastic pins to secure.

This allows you to still easily adjust the volume, but makes it much harder to hit both of them accidentally as you can feel the hole in the battery cover if you are touching it there when taking it out of the case!

Hope this helps!

Ok people 4 threads all talking about the same thing?
And all on the first page, so it isnt like the others were buried somewhere.

Mods please merge.

Thanks
