Mute Button - Other Uses?
 

So the mute button is a nice touch, but I find the only time I've ever really used it was when sitting on hold with a CSR for a half hour or using it when I shouldn't in a phone call as I click it incessantly due to ADD or something...

I would love for this button to be like the 'Star' button on the keyboard... assignable and have it open my Navigation program, Opera, something. Is this possible?

Personally I would have paid more for a LED 'Flash' in place of the mute button, but as long as it's there let's do something with this thing!

I have searched for a bit and didn't find anyone mentioning this type of functionality but would be plenty happy seeing a reply with a link to make me look stupid. Anyone?

Its just a LED, seriously.

Anyways, it can serve probably as a nice speakerphone, lock, any sort of hardware button one would prefer on a phone as such as it. check those keyboard utilities that let you modify key commands

I used Keyboard Config to map the mute button long press to toggle bluetooth.

Bluetooth isn't bad, I don't use it enough to be valuable tho..

I'll need to remap it to when I click it it turns into an LED/flashlight. :evil4:

Anyone else with a good one-click function this button would be invaluable for? Maybe CorePlayer..

You could map it to an app that turns your screen brightness to the max and displays a white screen... That would be KINDA like a flashlight

I have long press mute mapped to rotate my screen. I find there are times I want to rotate without having the keyboard open.

Thought about it but for that I could just have it go to a blank tab/screen in Opera, at least then it's somewhat useful.
