I just installed Google Maps and am interested in trying this as well, will it work on stock Sprint TP2 or only these other custom ROMs?

For those stuck on TTS I may have found some data on this.

I have been fighting the same problem with iGuidance.

I think there is a finite number of handles to the sound system and there are too many widgets that hold their handle open. Or don't properly release it when done.

Voice Command is one culprit and I disable all Announcements. But Voice Command is not the only trouble maker.

The SMS Messaging also breaks it.

I can freshly boot start iGuidance and it will work perfectly.

Then shut down iGuidance.

Send myself one text message and wait for it to come back.

Then start iGuidance and TTS is broken again.

Shutdown iGuidance

and kill the Process HTC Messaging (Messaging_Client.exe)

Then iGuidance works again.

I have even tried reverting to Sense Ui 2.5 1921 (the one with out landscape) same problem.

I've disabled Native HTC Messaging and went back to Native WM (tmail.exe) same problem. Just kill that task and it works.

I even tried disabling ALL sound notifcations and still persists. I think they still grab the sound handle and use up that resource.

So my current fix is in QuickMenu I removed hiding Messaging_Client.exe from the process list. Before I start iGuidance I just kill it.

If iGuidance grabs it's resources first, Messaging_Client still works fine and so will iGuidance.

Energy ROM didn't used to have this problem but it does on his latest Jan 20th ROM.

I think things are on the edge of just using too many handles.

One person mentioned running cleanRAM first and that makes iGo work. IT may be killing a dormant process holding a handle or two.

I think this proceblem can happen on any of these tools.

But it's odd how it's always TTS that gets hit. They may be using the same TTS software and it may be dumb in how it tries to get a handle if the first attempt fails.

Well I guess it was too good to be true. Now running the mort script isnt enough. I have to turn off sense. Reset, then run the script. So frustrating....!

Anyone use Navigon? I'm about to bite the bullet on that one. Hope it's not the same issue.

Same here. Seems suddenly the script method no longer works.

See my above above.

Try adding Kill "Messaging_Client.exe" to your script and I bet it will work.

Just got TTS working on NRGZ 1/14 21885 ROM. Took a while but it eventually worked somehow. From what I see, I think you need all the files in place before you install the program for it to work.

Thanks. I haven't tried this method yet. I just flashed back to 6.1 tock ROM. Maybe I will try when I am getting tired with 6.1.

I can confirm TTS works on MalROM also. And in my opinion the best rom =)

Does TTS work from scratch? Without any modifications, like turn off the Sense or MortScript etc.? Does it work consistently?

I tried MalRom before. Seems a bit sluggish. Maybe latest ROM changes this?

I'm not sure if TTS problem in iGuidance and iGO are the same, but I suspect it is.

They may both use the same Engine ScanSoft RealSpeak Solo.

On many ROMs I see the exact same behavior.

Both Voice Command and HTC Messaging (as well as Windows Mobile Stock Messaging will knock TTS out).

On a fresh boot it works fine without the mortscript some of you are using for iGo. Until I send or receive a text message which starts HTC Messaging. If you are not using HTC Messaging it will still cause the Problem too. I think then it's called Text Messaging and the exe is tmail.exe

It's some sort of resource these apps a fighting for.

Confirmed that TTS works on MalROM flawlessly. No tweak needed. Plus Malrom is very nice indeed.

Not true. After a lot of frustration, I was able to get it working on Mighty by removing voice command from startup and running cleanRam after a soft reset. So far no problems and have been using TTS consistently after all but giving up hope.
