Direction Pad?

Im sorry if this is posted... am I going mad? There is no direction pad? I know its more responsive and all.... but.... I used to be able to scroll one down at a time with the down click on TP and in Total Commander use the Left Direction to go back to the main directory now I cant do this or am I being an idiot?

No D-pad, all touch. Where have you been? But I feel your pain though, the first week or so navigating the phone was a little tedeous for me since I relied on the d-pad so much and I didn't realize how much I missed it but I definitely got over it pretty quick though. Awesome phone IMO, there isn't any looking back for me at all. TP2 FTW

you're right, there is no direction pad.

I don't like that either & I used the round center button to hit enter constantly on my TouchPro's.

true, but I'm the oddball who never uses the hardware KB.

I use Touchpal (3.5) for everything as I find it is WAY faster to type on using their T+ technology. I had a TouchPro for a year & never used the hardware KB once.

Re: Direction Pad?

This drove me crazy as well so here is the workaround I came up with that helps me. Using the keyboard mapping utility (which also works on all of the hardware buttons), I mapped the volume buttons to act as up/down on single click and as volume control on long press (so I don't actually lose the volume function when I need it). Then I mapped the Phone End key to "Enter/Select" on single click and "Hang Up" on long press (again so I don't lose this function when I need it). So now I have basic up/down/enter d-pad functionality with the existing buttons. Haven't mapped the left/right yet, but I don't use that very often anyway.

Thats not a horrible workaround... I might try that.... What keyboard map util do you use?

Sooner or later (hopefully) someone will make a touch dpad software for the screen.
