Last minute, must have apps for international travel w/o laptop

Just got my VZW TP2 and am going international w/o my laptop.

Would love to know your recommendations on your normal good to have apps and must have mods for VZW...

Thx GoodThings2Life for your cleanup app!

Already grabbed some cabbed apps from Software worth installing.

I also have:

-Garmin XT w/maps,

-Had VZW unlock SIM / Device (without voiding warranty if I put in another providers SIM card) and got unlimited data put on.

What have you folks found for prepaid sim cards and rates for Spain/France? So much info is overwhelming me... ](*,) Thx!!!

I travel international too, and just unlocked my phone last night. I'm currently looking for a gps location tracker/logger so I can plot my trip as I go.

First, I'm not sure how long you're going for, but the VZW rep told me something very interesting. They have an international data plan that is $20 (on top of your US data plan), but it can be prorated. So if you're only gone for a week, it's $5. Set it up just before you leave, and cancel when you get back. Here is the VZW Global Services # (they know more about this than cust. svc). (800) 711-8300.

As far as must have apps, definitely get 1-calc (advanced calculator program). It has up to date currency exchange. It also has an advanced unit converter. Great tool (I actually use it instead of the stock calculator).

Get the Panoramic camera mode registry tweak. This makes your panoramic pics take higher res shots (be sure to test it out so you're ready, I found it freezes with too high of a stitch count). I'm replying over the phone, so I can't attach the cab file, but check my posts created. It's in a thread called "Camera Settings".

What else... oh, don't forget you int'l charger adapter! Lol

I'll post if I think of anything else.

I found SPB Travel extreamely useful when I was in Suriname. I haven't installed it yet on the TP2 though.

Here is a must have - It's a GPS tracking program. It logs your GPS coordinates, makes a trip, plots on a map, has offline mode (stores info on phone). I put up a post because I forgot what the program was, but someone was kind enough to post a link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340667 Play around with it before you travel so you're familiar with it. Awesome program!

Can anyone recommend any good/inexpensive international pre-paid SIM cards? I hope I don't stray off topic, it's kinda related. :)

when I lived in france a couple years ago (2005), I used Orange telecom. I was happy with the service.

Have you ever tried skype mobile? I used it when I was stationed in Germany and in Italy.
