Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

Whenever I'm done scrolling around a page I hit the back button expecting the previous page, however it just jumps up to where I last scrolled from or will do nothing and then the button blacks out! This is frustrating, and it happened on the official rom update for my Diamond too! Why is my copy of Opera retarded and how can I fix it? What version of Opera came with the Diamond shipped rom? I'd like to install that and link it to the Internet tab if possible. Halp!

Mobile is so slow compared to mini. I dont use it unless I need tabs and copy & paste.

I've got a fix! Use Opera Mini 4.2. It has a "stop" button that becomes "back" once the page is loaded and it's lightning fast.

It's the same withe the tp2. I guess the update gave us the same copy of opera. Its a huge pain

Which phone do you put in to get the best compatibility with the TP2? The Touch, Mogul???

Anyone know which one they are using? The Opera site list many HTC model, but non for the TP1 or 2. Which one do you find works the best?

I had this problem, and asked for a solution here. I can't find it now though. Maybe the thread was pruned? Anyway, it had something to do with resetting the opera:config file to its default settings. I was under the impression that I had messed something up when turning turbo on and off.

does everyone really use opera mini instead?

Re: Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

The easiest way to reset the opera:config file is to delete the windows\opera9\opera.ini file. Opera Mobile will recreate it next time you start up Opera. Personally, if you're going to try this, I'd recommend you rename and not delete the file...just in case ;)

Yes, this is what I did. And it worked.

I do not. I have tried it, and it is fast, but javascript/ajax doesn't seem to work, and I don't like the mobile version of sites. I do not understand the mini enthusiasm, but I am glad it provides some people what they want/need. Opera 9.7b is by far my fave. I does lock up my phone prolly once a day and downloads and cookies don't work with turbo on, but I will deal with that due to its otherwise great performance and features. The actual 9.7 release will rock.

I agree with you, i use 9.7 mostly aswell..i think its awesome. Especially with fixoperaflash which i have on 9.5 and 9.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770 but i also have mini beta 5 and have played with it alittle bit. Skyfire i used to love on my mogul but it looks crappy on the TP2

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.15650/998; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

Posting this from mini, using the hard keyboard. Not sure why the softkeyboard opens too

Hasn't that always been an issue with Opera i.e. it launches the SIP even though the slider keyboard is out :(

This looks like Opera Mini 5 beta. Opera Mini 4.2 is better and doesn't have this problem. DO NOT use Sprint Titan to install. Use the cab posted HERE. Anyone who prefers 9.7 probably isn't using the right version of Mini. This version is unstoppable! (Though 9.7 is pretty good)

I agree. Opera mini for surfing is hands down the best and quickest experience. That is 4.2 of course. I do not know what I would do without it.....

Re: Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

the idea is just weird to me that on my TP2 i should use the same browser i did on my RAZR

edit- alright, well as antiquated as it does feel to use it on this device that version of mini of the cab he posted is FAST. I cant lie...its very fast infact...will it become my default, I still think i prefer 9.7.

Re: Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

I was having this same issue with the back button. I deleted the opere.ini as suggested and it fixed the back issue but now when I double tap to zoom it only zooms in probably by 10%. Also when I go to settings the option buttons are small. Did anyone else get this after deleting the .ini file?

Re: Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

They both work fine. i like opera mini 5 more because its much faster at rendering. Opera min 5 beta doesnt have landscape support really though and if you plan on using a on-screen keyboard, you have to use the one from opera.

aznmode 11-07-2009 07:46 PM

Re: Opera 'back' button is driving me crazy!

I think the issue has to do with this line in the opera.ini file

Custom User-Agent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380

I used the edited opera.ini file the opera tweak thread and replaced the Custom User line with this default one and it did it again.

I agree 100%.

I basically use two browsers, OM 4.2 99% of the time & that POS Skyfire when I absolutely need flash.

I tried OM 5 beta & thought it was awesome, but it was much too buggy (it hardly worked at all on this site) so I deleted it for now.

I tried to get both OM 4.2 & 5 to work together but could never get it to work.

Back button works fine for me. Just to make sure we're all talking about the same thing, I use the hardware "back" button on the bottom of the device that's next to the Windows key....not the "back" arrow that is a soft button on the screen.

I think we're all talking about the soft button on screen.

Opera mini 5 beta has the best interface at the moment.

I agree, but it's way too buggy for everyday use.

I never even use the back hardkey button in opera. Much quicker to press on screen button imo.
