Opera 9.5 vs Opera 9.7

Morning all,

I have a VZW TP2 and really do enjoy it so far.

Has anyone installed Opera 9.7 over 9.5 yet? I did it once and it looks like the device then had two installs. Was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on doing this install. I would like to install over 9.5 and replace it completely.

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Opera 9.5 vs Opera 9.7

I strongly recommend avoiding this. I think 9.7 is far superior to 9.5 because of "turbo" mode, yet certain web sites are causing 9.7 to crash. Keep in mind that 9.7 is beta and has a few bugs to work out. What I did was run nopushinternet.cab to disable 9.5 and set 9.7 as default. 9.5 is good to have as a backup.

I actually do the opposite. The stock opera is fast and stable it does what i want the majority of the time. If i'm in a hurry and i will be looking at pages that take a long time to load then i will run 9.7 and use the turbo mode. But I don't really like turbo mode that much and as moutainwampus said some sites cause 9.7 to crash and for some reason that is often when i run it.

On a side note there will be 2 installs because there are 2 different programs.

Great information from you both. So basically I am going to stay with 9.5 for now.

I installed the 9.7 beta, keeping 9.5. The biggest issue I noticed is that the mobile view did not work right. I got a skinny, unreadable view that didn't pop to the normal mobile view until I touched on it, in similar fashion that you zoom in on the normal view. I uninstalled it almost immediately, as I almost always use the mobile view.
