Protonus:

OK, just installed Skyfire - went uneventfully. Tried justin.tv and was fairly impressed. Couple questions:

The volume was quite loud (Verizon TP2) - using the volume controls on my TP2 to try and lower it seemed to activate some navigation controls, sending me back to previous pages. Is there any way of adjusting the volume?

Probably related to the volume issue, when viewing on my desktop, there's an icon that will appear to enable full-screen viewing, but that doesn't show up on my TP2. I was able to just zoom it, eliminate the search bar on top, and it looked pretty good, but is there a different way to do this?

I checked the Page Drag option, but this didn't help. The little icons for volume and full screen appear briefly when I resize, and I used my stylus to click on the volume one, but still no joy.

Finally, I can't seem to get it to switch to landscape unless I slide open the TP2. Any way to get around this?

First impressions favorable!

I believe you can use an app called "Change Screen" to do what you need:

I've been looking some at apps like this, which could come in handy.

Any unwelcome "side-effects" with this app? It seems that many will fix or improve one or two areas, but create unwelcome ones somewhere else.:(

If you hit Menu in Skyfire you can access the winmo toolbar - that is how they intend for you to change the volume. Unfortunately HTC made the whole thing link to the notification page so you can't click the volume slider after like on a normal WinMo phone. However, if you were to bring up the notification page, Skyfire would no longer be in focus and therefore you could control volume with the hard keys from there.

You can't really "full screen" it anyways due to the way Skyfire works. Best to hide the toolbar and use the automatic zoom to snap the zoom level to the size of the video.

Use ChangeScreen to autorotate the screen using the gyro as noted by the previous poster, which will work in Skyfire and almost anythign else, most WinMo programs aren't written to see the gyro and know to flip it. Only the HTC apps really do that. ChangeScreen is a great program and even can flip TouchFlo. You needn't be so worried about trying software... you're not going to "mess up" anything with 99% of what's out there. Worst thing is, if there is a side effect, just uninstall the program.

Excellent response and information - much appreciated!!

Regarding the Volume - you're right - all I have to do is hit Skyfire's Menu button, and I can then adjust volume as usual. It times out in a few seconds and goes back to Skyfire. Very acceptable work-around.

The zoom issue is also fine. Will also check out ChangeScreen, and likely install that. I was wondering about TouchFlo not switching to landscape orientation, which was kind of surprising.

Finally - I don't know if it's Skyfire, Justin.TV, my connection, or what, but there is a fairly prominent audio-video lag. I didn't notice it earlier today, although I was focused on other matters, but when I tried it just now, it was pretty bad. Male voices were coming out of female heads, etc. Is this the nature of the beast?

ETA - Why ChangeScreen instead of Gyrator 2? It looks like the developer of ChangeScreen was wanting to come out with 2.79 back in June, to fix some bugs, but hasn't been able to. No updates/fixes in a number of months.

I use a program called "Gyrator 2". Google it, it's free (if I recall).

You can set it up to rotate the screen 360-degree and work with only specific programs. It starts automaticlly when windows starts, and you can set it to minimize/run in the background right away.

I personally disable the auto-start, as I only run it with a few programs, but it's up to you.

Yeah, I was checking that out as well, including some of the quirks some report. ChangeScreen was apparently developed because of certain things the author didn't like about Gyrator 2, but there hasn't been much activity on that one in several months.

Interestingly, I was about to start another thread on Screen Rotation, because I was browsing Handango, and came across another free app to do this:

http://www.handango.com/catalog/Prod...oductId=226107

Kai's Screen Rotator.Net is the name.

Anybody willing to give this one a try?

Re: So what's the bottom line with Flash and TP2?

in my brief testing change screen was faster and more consistent then gyrator. You can also map a hardbutton to rotate the screen using the rhodium keyboard controller program which is how I did it the whole time i owned my Titan since it's gyroless. Well actually to be precise I used AEbuttons but same idea.

Re: the audio/video sync issues, Assuming you weren't low on system resources, it's pretty much server load on skyfire's end and the position of the moon / humidity etc... j/k. Unfortunately since the beta went public consistency hasn't been too great. Sometimes closing/reopening skyfire will migrate you to a different server so if you find yourself having a consistently bad experience in a particular browsing session, that often does the trick.

So no, it shouldn't be expected behavior or intended, and I've seen it at it's best where it's 20+ fps perfect sync, etc, but it's definitely more typical then I'd like. Also, some sites are more prone to issue then others. YMMV.
