Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

I had posted about this case I got on eBay from nakedcellphone and it finally arrived. Overall, I am very pleased with the fit. The only thing I was not fond of was the unpainted edges, which will easily be remedied w/ some flat black paint. Here are some pictures...

Where is the light sensor located on the Sprint version?

The auction where I purchased mine showed the front hole...as it is the only decent option that I can find right now I am not really worried about it too much. I'm waiting to see what Sedio comes out with...

I got the same one for my Verizon TP2 and the bottom part doesnt fit right. Also the light sensor doesnt work properly either..

Ah, I checked the auction listing again and it shows the hole on the left side for the sensor. Its not perfectly round though. Is that hole on the right for the sprint sensor or did you get the gsm version? I should have mine this week and will letcha know how it works.

On the bottom, are you talking about where the usb plugs in? because the are in different spots for the sprint vs verizon. The seller has a verizon model available.

This is the Sprint version that I got.

I am not sure why it has the front facing camera hole unless that is where the light sensor is on the Sprint TP2 (I have no idea). I knew going into the purchase that the hole would be on the face as it was pictured...just not sure of its purpose yet, if any.

It looks nice but I hate using these kind of cases, it just makes the phone feel a little bit bulkier.

You guys are all buying GSM cases.

The hole on right side is for the GSM 0.3MP camera which our US phones don't have.

Additionally you need a fairly large hole for the light sensor on the left. See the images which happens to be a case the same ebay seller is selling. (http://cgi.ebay.com/CLEAR-HARD-COVER...4.c0.m14.l1262)

How does the Verizon version differ from the Sprint version? Any reason I could not use a Verizon version on my Sprint phone?

Verizon and Sprint cases are interchangeable.

However your link to that ebay auction titled sprint case is wrong. It is not a sprint/verizon case.

Thanks...I e-mailed the seller for a return. After disabling my pocket shield "lock screen during calls" it is clear that this case screws up the Sprint proximity (light) sensor.

Re: Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

I just got this one and it fits my Verizon phone perfectly. YMMV, but I'm perfectly happy with it for $4.99 shipped. As with the Naked case, the edges were unfinished, so I used a black laundry marker and all is right. The clip is crap and I'm not going to put it on, but the case alone was worth it for me. It's not as nice as the Seidio Innocase I had on my 6800, but its currently being sold (let's get going Seidio!) and cheap enough that I wont feel bad about tossing it in another month if I had to.

how does the speaker on the back sound with these cases... seems like it covers some of the holes for them. does it sound muffled at all?

I bought the Verizon model and still had to cut away some of the plastic..I'll stick with this one till I can find on that fits better.

Re: Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

I heard back from the seller and he claimed the Sprint TP2 does not have a proximity/light sensor like the iphone and does not turn off when placed next to your face during a call. I offered to send him a video as proof...I would not recommend buying from this seller. I'm surprised considering their feedback.

Send him a link to this thread showing that he is losing business. If he is still a **** I will send mine back as well. Especially since another user said the bottom didnt fit perfect. Cheap or not, it should be as advertised.

Well, I received my case from nakedcellphone today... It was advertised as being verizon brand only.... It has the camera hole on the right and no proximity hole on the left even though the picture showed one. I'm pretty aggravated right now.

If he doesn't refund your money be sure to leave him negative feedback on eBay. These eBay vendors love to receive positive feedback and if they get a bunch of negative ones they will wake up!

Well I feel pretty bad suggesting that one. Those clear case pics I posted looked exactly like mine, except mine is black. I searched ebay and nakedcellphone was the only vendor that still seemed to have verizon/sprint cases. Apparently everyone has sold out. This is the auction I bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130331163311 but he seems to be out of stock. You can try to contact him directly.

Regardless nakedcellphone is misrepresenting the item he is selling. Which is an easy charge back through paypal if he doesn't refund you. I'd leave him negative feedback regardless of a refund just for wasting your time.

Re: Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

Maybe it's a mix up. My Naked Cell rubberized hard case for Verizon arrived today and it fits fine. It has the proximity sensor hole and all of the proper speaker/mic holes for a Verizon TP2. My only complaint is that the paint job could better on the edges. It's black, but you can see where a white edge along the seams. I also ordered the screen protectors from them and they also seem fine. They're the hard plastic / glossy type.

Overall, I'm happy for the cost and it even sorta fits in the Verizon holster I ordered it with. What I like is that the rubber case protects the sleep button which would get jostled in the case and turn on the phone very easily. So, pretty happy with Naked Cell and I think I'm OK even though I could not get it from my preferred vendor: Sedio. If Sedio comes out with an extended battery, extended cover, case and clip-in type holster, I'll probably trade up.

I'd say ask them to exchange it.

I did but I didnt get a response. I was really hoping that rubberized meant rubber as well. Like the seido case I got for my TP1. This just seems to abrasive for my tastes. If I dont get a response by tomorrow morning I'm going to do a paypal charge back.

Re: Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

So I have read this thread 3 times and still a little confused. I have a few questions. I just ordered the Sprint version HTC Touch Pro 2 and should be here friday. from the pictures looks like that case would be perfect for me, as for being bulky, I am upgrading from a Treo 700wx and honestly I like the brick feel.

1. with the Sprint version of the case, is the camera hole in the wrong place (Does the US model even have a camera in the front?) and not have a hole for the light sensor? (will that cause problems?)

2. Does the case feel like hard plastic with a textured coating or more like a smooth finish?

3. How solid does the case feel? does it feel cheap? (for alot of you out there I am sure you have seen Vaja cases, have been a big fan of there's but no case for the TP2 yet from them)

Feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

bluruld 09-30-2009 09:01 PM

Re: Rubberized Hard Case for Sprint TP2

1. No US tp2 has a front camera and therefore the case doesn't need a right hole.
The case however needs a left hole for the proximity sensor.
See black case pics above, that's what you want.

2. Case doesn't feel like hard plastic. It is hard plastic with a rubber coating. It feels smooth and rubber like feel that you can put pressure on and it moves some.

3. I'm not familiar with Vaja cases but that case is hard plastic with a rubber coat. I dropped my TP1 with the case several times and never had any issues.
