I love when people hack their phones like hell and populate them with warez then want to claim they are morally responsible when it comes to fees and replacement phones.

All the providers and insurance companies know about this stuff, it's nothing new. It would be extremely naive to think that everyone is telling the truth about what happened to their phone when they need a replacement.

This is exactly the reason the cost of insurance has risen from $3 to $7/mo. it's called inflation. people ruin it for everyone else. soon it won't even be worth having insurance if the rates continue to go up.

return the phone you have first, then you won't be complaining about having to pay for the new device up front. that's what normal people do.

Eh as long as the guy didnt break the phone on purpose its not as big a deal, IMO. Besides hes not benefiting much from declaring it lost, he's taking a risk so the rest of us can get some benefits.

Exactly, thats how they come up with the premium, if they thought they were losing money, they would raise the premium.
It's all free money to them, if a million dollars in premiums comes in a month and only a quarter of a mil in new phones goes out, thats all profit. Keep in mind they pay a lot less for the phones and they took their profit off the top when they sold you the phone.

They dont offer insurance beause they want you to be a happier customer, they offer it because it makes money.

it's different for automotive insurance, if you crash your car, burn it and call it in stolen, thats insurance fraud because they couldve fixed the car and the insurance is structured differently for each type of claim.

if the phone insurance was going to reapir the phone or give you a check in the amount of the cost of a new screen and labor for htc to fix it, then that would be different. But premiums are based on the fact that all settlements are going to be replacements, so it doesnt matter what happens to the phone, theres only one outcome, a replacement.

Even if the other phone was perfectly fine and not cracked, it still wouldn't matter because thats what you pay the premium for, to get a phone when you want one. but everytime you claim a hpone, you risk not being able to get one the next time.

Well, I claimed it just waiting for the Afidavit to be processed so I can get the tracking number of my new phone. TBH its not much different if you lost your phone at lets say a friends house then you found it a month later after you claimed it. And the premium went up because the benefits changed. And The price of phones has gone up period.

from what i gather you can only get a replacement one time in a year..

10 years with sprint and i've never had to file a claim.. i'm not an animal, i baby my phones, just like all my other gadgets..

i could never understand how someone pays $500~ for a phone and needs a replacement less than a month later. chain that thing to your hip!

Exactly, every phone has a camera and can access the internet in some fashion. While most hpones have GPS (even if its not for nav), picture messagin, music player and now half the phones are touchscreen. crazy **** happens sometimes. i had a brand new iphone that i had unlocked and was selling, so it sat in the box all the time. i was in my car getting out with a bunch of stuff in my hands, grabbed the iphone box and because of the gay design, the bottom half slid out and the phone jumped out and tried to escape. Fortunately I had my tranquilizer rifle and i put her down at 50 yards, she dropped like a rock and hit the concrete leaving a couple of small gouges.
