When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

I'm wondering if this is really a "problem" or if there is just some "variability" with manufacturing...

After voting can you all please post your vote along with what carrier you have?

I am starting this thread because I have a slight "wobble" in my screen (Sprint) but otherwise I do not have ANY issues with my TP2 (no dead/stuck pixels, etc) so I am afraid to exchange it just because of the "wobble"...

EDIT: To clarify I mean front to back...when tilted if I push the back of my screen towards the front, it moves a little and when letting go it sits back to where it started...

you should clarify what you mean by wobble... back and forth or side to side? side to side would be a huge problem because it's not supposed to move that way. back and forth, however, is obviously gonna have some give because that's how you close or open it. when i open mine i can push it back a tiny bit then it seems to just sit in its spot. does this count as wobble?

if it was intended to be locked in a firm position i think you would get a clear lock like when you first start tilting or after u untilt...

I added an edit above...I mean back to front when the screen is tilted...when the keyboard is slid out but is flat there is no "play" at all...

when u untilt, u hear that click? obviously something is there to keep it nice and stiff so it doesn't wobble... they dont have that mechanism when u tilt it fully...

yours is probably just like everyone elses... i wouldn't worry about it. now if ur watching a movie while its just sitting on the table and it just falls back down... then yeah, that's a problem

they all will have a slight wobble, unless it falls on its own or when ya barely touching the screen, its normal to have a give in each direction, Its a moving part that goes in 2 directions, its gonna give a little untill the hinges catch....... We (wife and I) have had 3 total, all with a wobble, i checked 4 at the stores and they all have a slight wobble.

My Sprint TP2 has a very slight side to side (well more of a twist) and front to back when slid out flat and tilted up. Not enough to really bother me or warrant an exchange.

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

this is one of the best questions I've seen posted about the tp2 and has been on my mind (if i ever get one.)
sounds to me like it's engineered 'play', kinda like how bridges & tall buildings sway.

I wouldn't worry about it until it starts doing it when you touch the screen. (how often do you touch the back??)

Yea, mine can only take the lightest touches when tilted without giving. But if you were to say shake the phone a little, it does not wobble.

I think its just the best the design can do.

Mine has the wobble and I'm with Sprint. Not bad though. I kinda wish it would "lock" into place, but really, I guess it don't matter.

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

I haven't used the tilt feature at all, but it does wobble some. I'm guessing that it's a design limitation as others have stated. Still feels sturdy when tilted, but i have no real use for a tilted screen, ever.

This is great feedback guys...the main reason I started this poll is there are other threads where people talk about it and someone else jumps in and says "take it back"...it looks like if you took it back you'd very likely end up with the same thing...

I have yet to use the tilt so it doesn't bother me otherwise...

nope i dont have this issue im on the wiforum so i cant do the poll but i have the verizon tp2! also havent found any reason to even use the tilt function! im even losing the use of a hardware keyboard so i might switch when the diamond2 comes out! seems keyboardless = faster device!

verizon tp2 with slight wobble. no bother as most have mentioned. never really tilt it to be honest, i only open it to use the keyboard for typing, then close her back up.

eh doesn't really bother me. as like the person above i open it to type and close it.

No dead or stuck pixels? I wouldn't exchange that phone due to a wobble in a million years. All the TP2's I have seen, both T-Mobile and Sprint have it. Most (actually all but 1 that I have personally seen) have stuck pixels too so consider yourself lucky and just live with the wobble.

Oh I agree...there's no way I am exchanging...I wanted to make this poll to get people to relax about the wobble...I would see people post about the wobble (or the youtube videos) and others would tell them to take it back immediately...as you can see from the poll, it is quite a common thing...

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

I think this wobble is mostly an unavoidable by-product of a design that allows infinite tilt angles. The alternatives would be click stops at fixed angles, or making the tilt hinge mechanism so stiff that it would be very hard to move.

Flat (untilted) is a definite position, so it gets a clickstop. In the flat position the screen is also supported by the top portion of the keyboard half of the phone, which makes it more solid.

The wobble at other tilt angles is the result of the "infinite tilt angles" design. The alternatives would be fixed tilt positions (more click stops) or making the hinge so tight that it would be a pain to adjust it. I think they made the right design choice.

(Edit: I didn't intend to post essentially the same thing twice....thought the first post got lost.)

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

Mine wobbles only if I shake it up and down. Otherwise, it doesn't move when typing. While it's not as perfectly stiff like my Touch Pro, it's not all loosey goosey like my Mogul was.

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

I just got my replacement TP2. My first one had a broken space bar & 6 stuck pixels. It did not have a wobble when tilting the screen. My replacement still has stuck pixels, but they are not bright like my other; however, it has a extreme wobble. When the screen is tilted it flops around while I am texting. I don't tilt it while texting anymore because it is annoying. I think the only time I will tilt it now is when I have it sitting on a table. I am not going to return it just for the wobble though. I went through all kinds of heck to get this one from VZW. Since I am happy with everything else, I will be keeping it.

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

Mine wobbles when tilted, but locks tight when slid out flat.
I only tilt it when watching someting anyway. I wouldn,t return
it for this. Def no biggie. Awesome otherwise.

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

Mine didn't wobble at all when i first got it. But it does now!

When i first noticed it, it was a slight wobble, but it got worse and worse. But lately it seems to be the same now .. no change in the degree of wobbliness

Must say though, i'm glad other people are experiencing it too -- i was beginning to think it might be a problem that needs closer attention.

:)

Mine does wobble as you described, and I couldn't care less. I don't see any issue....

Re: When tilted, does your TP2 screen "wobble"?

I have an unbranded TP2 from SEA. No dead pixels, no wobble at all. One small gripe tho -when slid closed, there's a slight (0.5mm) overlap of the screen over the keyboard half, right next to the volume buttons.
