Re: Sprints matches Big reds TP2 price!

I'm feeling sorry for Sprint. After having bled so many customers over the last few years to have their most technology driven patrons slowly nickel and dime them into bankruptcy is very disheartening.

I've been keeping a keen eye on Sprints stock price, if this keeps up and Sprint's ability to maintain profitability remains low another corporation is going to swoop in and gobble Sprint whole. And you know what happens after consolations. Less innovation and eventual higher prices. So please keep the health of the company in mind when you're on the phone screaming for credits and rebates. It may come back on all of us in the end.

Sprint's HTC Touch Pro2 Is NOT Getting a Price Cut
BY: Ed Hardy, Brighthand.com Editor
PUBLISHED: 9/30/2009

A rumor that Sprint is about to cut the price of its version of the HTC Touch Pro2 is getting a great deal of publicity today. However, an official spokesperson for this carrier has informed Brighthand that this report is mostly incorrect.

Sprint introduced this high-end Windows phone earlier this month at $350 with two-year contract. Verizon launched it just a couple of days later at $200 with contract, and the unconfirmed report says Sprint is going to drop its price to match its rivals.

HTC Touch Pro2 for SprintAccording to the Sprint spokesperson, this is not the case. Apparently, there is some confusion about a new discount going into effect for large corporate customers.

She wrote:

Starting tomorrow, the price drop for HTC TouchPro2 from Sprint is only available to corporate liable customers with 100+ lines. All other channels will sell at original price $349.99 with a two-year service agreement and after $100 mail-in rebate.

Re: Sprints matches Big reds TP2 price!

Well, being given the runaround on my upgrade eligibility (I returned a tp2 after deciding it wasnt worth 350 for the upgrade from a tp). I went through telesales to see if I could get the phone for 199.99. No go, and I closed the conversation.
I gave sprint another ring, this time I was sent to account services and I had asked him about it, this is what he said:

"We will be offering the phone for 199.99 to corporate accounts begining oct. 1st. corporate accounts are accounts which are used for businesses, and only if their account carries a $100 or greater monthly balance. The phone will be automatically discounted when we finalise the enrollment/renewal contract for corporate accounts. Now as for consumers, I havent received an e-mail confirming this, but the word around the office is that we may be offering the phone for 199.99, or less, to compete with verizon on a consumer level (the decision will be most likely dependant on sprint's third quarter financial release he states later). The price change is rumored to take effect sometime this fourth quarter, which could be anywhere from late october, to end of year."

Again, its all a rumor, but I am impressed with the ammount of information he willingly divulged without interrigation :)
PS: account services are the people to see if you would like your upgrade eligibility reset electronically (so you can place an order through any sales channel).

Got off the phone with telesales... The lady checked with her supervisor and said they just got wind of it 5 minutes before I called. They didn't have enough details yet though.

Also, she said there's no way they can apply the mail-in-rebate upfront, nor could they match VZW's price. GRR!

Oh well, I guess we'll hear more within a couple of days.
