Re: Underwhelming

if he doesnt return the phone and go back to his diamond, i think we know how he truly feels about it... its a much better phone than the diamond and tp2.

maybe your judgment is a little off because you had custom roms on your diamond? or maybe you're just upset cause the tp2 isn't the htc leo... we knew this wasnt a major upgrade as far as what's under the hood.. where it is an upgrade is the gigantic screen and much better keyboard. all the reviews talk about how the screen is atouch more sensitive than the tp. maybe you changed sensitivity settings with advanced config, diamond tweak or something and din't realize it?

it's cool to have a different opinion, but i honestly question when someone says the diamond or tp is better than a tp2.... that's just outrageous.

You are right. The lady at dunkin donuts didnt give me a straw with my iced coffee this morning and im taking it out on my TP2. There are alot of things I really like about it.. like the facebook integration with contacts and the deeper roots of TF3D, such as the finger friendly popup menus. Ive only been using this thing for one day and these are my observations.

I miss my small square screen. The only exercise I used to get was scrolling endlessly while web browsing. Now im fat and have heart issues... DAMN YOU HTC!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, don't even get me started on the keyboard. I mean, I didn't make any mistakes typing my last long email I sent! What the hell is THAT garbage? And why do I even have a slide out keyboard? It's too much effort. And the fact that I can use my fingers or the stylus? Come on. That's too F-ing complicated for me. I was playing Monopoly earlier and the graphics were so good, that I just had to put it away. I need something blurrier and less precise. And getting applications. I've been to over 25 different websites to download applications. That's terrible. I want a company to tell me only what they approve I can add to my phone. I want a phone that limits what I can do with it. Stop with all this freedom BS. This phone totally blows.

Can't please everyone, so why bother?

Anyway, after a week of using it, I can say that I like this phone and think it's one of the best (and few) PDA phones that VzW has carried. It has its quirks (what phone doesn't) but the changes from the TP are impressive.

- I think it's way sexier than the TP. Call me a device snob, but I look my electronics to look as good as they work and the TP2 fits the bill.

- The keyboard is much improved in terms of spacing and tactile feedback. For VzW owners, standard QWERTY is again the norm.

- The screen is just OK to me. I like the size, but don't find it substantially better than the TP.

- The wonky directional pad is gone. There is a God.

- The screen draw is really downer for GPS apps. So maybe there isn't a God.

- More memory is always good.

- TouchFlo feels a bit more responsive and the new stock tab is a nice touch. I wish HTC would open that up though so you can change the applications are add new tabs.

- Initial setup was intuitive, at least on the VzW version. Basically stepped you through the hardware setup.

Could it be better? Sure. Then again, what device is perfect? Is it worth the money? Absolutely. I can't say I have any regrets.

I ditched TF3D within about 20 minutes. I also have hard reset. I am running HTCHome VGA. Idle 57% nothing running...
