File Explorer Issue

Someone please help me out here...

My FILE EXPLORER will not open. The icon is still there, i can click on it, but it just goes back to the home screen and doesn't open. I don't know what i installed that might be conflicting or whatever, but what do i have to do to get it working again?

Thanks for any help

Does the same thing happen when you select it from the All Applications list? I would dump the WM file explorer and use Resco personally. If that doesn't work then you might have to hard reset. It sounds like it's crashing each time you launch it, or the shortcut got messed up somehow and is pointing to the wrong place.

I would second the "messed up link" theory if you're selecting from the TouchFlo "Programs" page.

Try deleting the link and re-adding it on the Programs page.

If it's not opening selecting from the "All Programs"... or if it's crashing... well, I'll keep my fingers crossed, 'cause that's somthing else entirely.

Keep us posted.

This is by no means a fix, and I'd definitely want to know how to fix this if it was me too, but if you need a freebie fix to tide you over, try TotalCommander. I use Resco Explorer as another poster mentioned, but that one's not free.

FYI, in case you do want to delete the shortcut in Windows\Start Menu\Programs to File Explorer, the actual shortcut points to ":MSFEXPLORE" and not to an actual EXE. However, I believe this just launches Windows\fexplore.exe. Try launching that program manually after you have something like TotalCommander installed, or see if you can add it to your applications list manually.

Re: File Explorer Issue

If you're talking about a programmed TouchFLO Programs button in the first 4 positions, this happens because a registry value is still left over after using the unlock tweaks.

You need to find HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\ 0 - 4 and remove the "Command" entries.

I didn't find this key, there's nothing after Manila in mine. You sure this is correct? I have the same problem as the OP

Re: File Explorer Issue

I had this problem earlier this week. I had the file explorer link in one of the 1st 4 positions on the TF start menu and it wouldn't open, however, I could launch it fine from all applications as well as running the exe from total commander. Tried to remove and re-add it but that didn't work. Ended up removing it and switching locations with another program i had on the menu. Worked fine after the move and the new application worked fine as well. Not sure what was keeping it from working, but I'm guessing that those that have the problem could move it's location on the TF menu and it would work fine.

It's not literally called 0 - 4, lol... it's the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, based on the button position. Also, it's HKLM not HKCU. My bad, and post is updated.
