TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
My TP2 keeps waking up out of sleep mode for no apparent reason. At first I thought the power button must be getting bumped as it jostled around in my pocket, but multiple times now, I've seen it wake up out of sleep mode and the screen turn on while its just sitting untouched on my desk, charging. Any idea what's causing this or how to stop it?

might be a dumb question but i thought id ask.. r u receiving emails when your phone wakes up? also some programs installed will wake the device up... g-alarm for example does this at midnight every night.

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
every single windows mobile phone i have ever had other than the motorola q and treo did this. ppc 6700 did it mogul did it vogue/touch did it diamond did it, touch pro did it, and my touch pro 2 does it. I also have no clue why... I thought it may be because of push e-mail too but once i cleared all so that it was like brand new.. no apps installed no e-mail at all and my mogul still did it! I never tested the others but yup i cant think of one single wm phone i ever had (other than the smart phone editions and treo) that didnt just wake up on its on for no reason!

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
Hahaha..I think it has to do with the area you're in. Its funny..everytime I go to a friend's house I would leave it down on the table and it'd wake up by itself.
It happened with my Mogul, my TP1 and now my TP2. He had the same phones I had and it does the same exact thing. This never happens at home or anywhere else except my friend's home. On the other hand..it may be power surges that our phones pick up? Just like putting a cellphone next to speakers..you'll hear the buzzing sound |
Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
if your signal switches from ev to x1 or vice versa the phone will wake up

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
Maybe its an app or tweak youve installed. If youre serious about finding the culprit, hard reset, and use the phone as is for a few days WITHOUT installing any .cabs files.
If it continues to behave like this, the reason might be what another member has already mentioned: your device hopping back forth between 1x and EvDO...especially considering the fact that you are consistently experiencing this with multiple devices. |

I did exactly that! It was like brand new for 2 days and it did the same thing. I guess ur right though its gotta be because of the switch from 1x to evdo.... it also happens in vegas and on the way to vegas and in atlanta ga |

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
I think it may have something to do with the update functions on the phone. Do you have:
* your weather tab set to update periodically? * Opera automatically pushing pages? |
Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
I think in this case its the hopping from EV to 1x. My phone only does it at work when I'm inside. Its hardly any service at all. I'll look in my pocket and see the light on. Thinking about this though, seems like it would defeat the purpose of sleep mode. I can't think of any reason at all anyone would want their phone to wake up when there is a change in signal or loss of signal. It should just switch and be done with it.
Is there a cab, or could a cab be made to fix this? |
Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
it normal I had this since I switch from Treos (on palm os )all my windows phones did that ( 700w x2, mogule x4, tp x5, tp2 x1 = total 12 phones :) )
I tried to do hard resets, cooked roms, tweaks, etc. nothing help. Looks like it happens when there is change in signal strength. Could be just change of few bars and it doesn't have to go to x1. You have to learn to live with it. Sometimes is just pisses me off when accidentally my phones dials numbers when woke up while in my pocket. so ppl dont speculate on what it could be - there are numerous posts on xda, ppc, treocentral forums about this issue ( some of them are even made by mua). peace my good ppl |
Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
I emailed HTC about this signal switching making the phone backlight turn on. I asked them if there was a way to avoid this perhaps through the registry......they said they dont support any registry changes and will give no info.
Thanks alot HTC. |

As others have said the phone seems to wake up when it changes from 1X to EvDo. I wonder it that is a Radio Rom issue?

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
I noticed that mine wakes up at 11:59Pm every night.

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
Mine does this too, in Vegas.

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
I had the same problem. It will wake when it is searching for signal I BELIEVE.
I have a telus TP2, but im using it on rogers. When it is set to auto mode it will wake up automatically, as it keeps searching for 3G signal. When it is on GSM it wont. I repeat, I have it on GSM mode only, and it NEVER wakes up randomly. |

Re: TP2 keeps waking up on its own.
My WinMo phones all (Treo 700wx, Diamond, TP, and TP2) wake up when ever they come into range of the AirAve. They will also wake up if for some reason they are dropped off of the AirAve and the AirAve becomes available again (example: Slightly longer than momentary loss of internet signal due to rebooting my cable modem/router).
Also, my TP2 has been connecting to the internet multiple times throughout the day. Push internet disabled, Push email disabled, email interval is manual, weather and stocks are set to manual.... I can't seem to figure out why the darn thing keeps connecting to data. |

You wouldn't. What im saying is that a band switch or a band SEARCH or data connection will wake up the screen. Sorry if I wasnt clear enough. |
