How do I re-enable device lock?
 

After running the .cab to disable the auto device lock I have decide I would like to go back. Does anyone know how to accomplish this. I have tried several registry changes but have come up dry so far.

If it is not listed in the Remove Programs in Settings | System, then you will have to edit the registry and revert the setting:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\DeviceLockWhenSuspend

The cab sets this to 0. I have my lock on and can't take it off because of a system policy, but try setting it to 1.

EDIT: I've just found another identical post you made in the "Touch Pro 2 Tweaks, Hacks, Tips & Modifications" thread, so it looks like you already know about this registry setting. So did you try a soft reset after you made the registry change?

Hmmm, not sure then. The only thing the cab does is to set that reg key.

yeah i did this same regedit and it didnt work for me either. somebody that found the edit or posted it said they would find out how to get it to work but they never did.

Wow...so you install a simple cab that does one simple thing...changes a registry key...but then you cannot undo that by simply reverting the registry key back to its original state??? That sucks big time! Something else must be getting changed by the OS as a result of it reading that key change.

I'd love to be able to help by trying it and tracking the registry and any file changes with before/after snapshots (SKTrakcer for instance), but unfortunately I have an Exchange policy that enables my lock anyway :(

just download that cab editor program open the cab and find out what it all says in there. there is a free trial for like 30 days or less. i used it to make one cab and i never used it again. in fact i just uninstalled it after that.

If you're talking about what's in the original lock cab, I did that already, and can confirm the ONLY thing it does is to change that reg key. And that was my point in my last post though. All the cab does is change a reg key, and it sucks that you can't just undo that. Totally bizarre!

i had a problem like that. i tried to set my icons to 4 in a row. i set the registry like how its supposed to. didnt work i tried 2 different settings that i found. they both didnt work. i installed the cab file and then it worked. and the cab was the same as one of the registry edits i found. weird.

I don't have the knowledge or abilities to do this but what if the same .cab was used but was changed to alter the registry setting to 1? It sounds kind of dumb but it is sideways thinking.
