Re: WM7 on Pro2
Even if we do get WM7 on our devices ... are we going to have a good experience?
If WM7 is truly a 'clean break' from WM6.5 and earlier, and the reference chassis is calling for things like the 800Mhz and up processor -- that's one thing. How, exactly do we get around these little issues: Multi-Touch display is required - as in, major parts of the OS may become inaccessible to those of us running on a TP2. Compass is required - some programs are gonna be funky, but most likely not a deal breaker for us. We've already got GPS and Accelerometer. We also match on most of the other specs like screen resolution, MicroUSB and 3.5 mm jack. |
Re: WM7 on Pro2
I hope they never allow any qualcomm 7XXX procs to be used in WM7.. i dont want it watered down that much to work with this useless pos proc. Id rather sell this phone and buy a new one.

Re: WM7 on Pro2
I just don't understand. I'm running Mobile Shell 3 on my phone and it's very finger friendly.
WM 6.5 should get us access to the Marktplace (App Store). What are the presumed benefits of running WM7? |

Re: WM7 on Pro2
Instead of arguing about something that doesn't even exist (to us anyway) yet, let's just all wait and see what no2chem can do, because if I know one person that can do it, it's him. I remember when he first started coming out with stuff for the Titan, he was/still is a god. All we can do is wait, and time will tell. I for one will be buying my TP2 in November regardless of WM7 compatibility.

Re: WM7 on Pro2
So here's a question.
I bought a TP day 1 on the phone through Verizon. I paid retail, got the 100$ rebate, and was quite happy with my device. I started modding it, have been through 4-5 due to various issues (usually the touch screen stops responding) and was really anxious to get my hands on the TP2. Finally got my TP2 last week. Paid 299$ for it (got a discount because of the TP problems) and I have a 100$ card in the mail sometime soon. I sold my TP replacement for 200$, so I will break even. Next fall (the EARLIEST I anticipate Verizon getting WM7 hardware, if then at all), I think there is a good chance I will look at the new hardware, and if I like it, I will sell my recently refurbished TP2 and pick up another new phone at a reduced cost to myself. I anticipate spending less than $1000 out of pocket over 3 years to stay on what comes down to the bleeding edge of phone tech. I have friends who've spent that on iPhones already. I pay about 125$ a month for service. In comparison, over 3 years, I will have paid Verizon $4500 to use their network. That works out (including the hardware) to less than $150 a month to have the newest shiniest toys. In contrast, my girlfriend pays about $60 a month for basic phone and txt service. We are both happy with our solutions, but we would both prefer to pay less. If you want to play with the toys, it's not really that expensive month to month. If you don't want to spend the cash, it's not really that big of a loss to your lifestyle over the long run. What kind of person are you? |
