SPB Mobile Shell and Battery Icon

For those using SPB Mobile Shell, is there anyway on the main screen to show a battery icon so I know how much battery is left.

My home screen is the professional screen which looks like this one but only in black, and there is no battery icon. Kind of looks like this picture does at top. Any suggestions?

Take a look at THIS thread over at XDA. Specifically, THIS post.

Without any mods or tweaks, simply switch to lifestyle layout from professional, and the battery widget icon is there.

Thanks man. What I am looking for, yet the only problem is, i'm not sure how to perform the task at hand in getting it to work.

There is a txt file on the page to download, and in SPB under my device, there is a qa_layouts.dat file.

Now the post says...Copy file LockScreen.xml to qa_layouts.dat.

Does that mean I need to change the extension to xml from txt? And then, there is no way to open a .dat file when you try to open it. Microsoft mentions something about Corel and opening dat files.

Also this phone is a 480x800 and only see it compatible up to 480x640, so I wonder if it will still work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm . . the text file in that post is the .xml file that needs to be added to qa_layouts.dat. I see what you mean about the resolution. That .xml file might need to be edited a bit for the wvga resolution, to make sure the clock and battery icon wind up in the right place.

The qa_layouts.dat can be opened in a zip utility. It's password protected . . check the front of the main post for the password.

If you're not comfortable doing this sort of mod, you might just consider switching to the lifestyle screens, which are totally customizable (swipe up/down from the pprofessional screen). If you look through the thread I posted, you'll find a number of widget sets from MSkip. His stuff will install from a cab file. With his added widgets, you can pretty much recreate the professional screen in a lifestyle screen, to include adding the battery widget.

As skipster pointed out, you can switch to the Lifestyle page and customize it anyway you want. I have my lifestyle page set up so that it pretty much looks like the professional layout with the addition of the battery icon and a few widgets for my most often used program.

I assume you're running MS3.0 or better. There are a couple of sets of Pro widgets to use in conjunction. I'm also assuming you know that if you swiped down, you'll get to your lifestyle screen and you'll find your battery meter there.

In addition, if you pulled those pro widget sets, you can set up your lifestyle screen much like your professional screen...just add the battery meter widget.

I switched it over to the other layout and i'll go that route. Would be nice to see what everyone's looks like on that screen. I'll have to check and see if there are today screens of Mobile Shell on the other topic. Thanks for the help.
