Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

What a disappointing suprise to find that I could install, but not run NFS Undercover on the TP2 when it worked ok on the TP. I'm sure it's all the overhead from TouchFlo clogging things up, but turn it off and you're back to staring a a blank WM 6.1 Today screen. With 6.5 coming out soon, that's probably not going to improve either.

I don't own this game but I generally have 20-30MB more free ram on the TP2 than I ever had on my Touch Pro. Is it specifically giving you a low ram error message?

Might wanna try the cabs posted here;

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...62&postcount=1
I have 110MB+ free available at boot after installing those two cabs.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

tf3d 2.1 just takes up a ton of memory. Just disable it and you will be able to run the game just fine. Depending on how much system memory is available you will even be able o run it with tf3d enabled

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

Yes, it's wanting 90 and there's just under 70 free after a soft-reset. I'm running stock, no mods or cabs yet except for amAze GPS app, QuickMenu (which is acting kind of glitchy, but I love that Start-menu enhancement) and S2U2 2.04.

I did try disabling it, and was still short the 90+ it was asking for in the error-dialog.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

look for a program called cleanRam and run it before playing nfs. It has nothing to do with the availabilty of ram as I can have 100 free and it wont work. It always works after running that program. Just use it to set level 3.

Wierd. I only had 63mb available and it works fine. Also using stock. Those memory hacks that were linked will help a lot.

I still need to run cleanRam after the memory hacks.....I think the program cleans out some temp and extra stuff that would sit somewhere in memory. It basically cleans everything out like a soft reset without soft reseting.

This memory issue is quite common to NFS on a lot of other devices and this was the suggested way to run it. It has nothing to do with just the TP2 or the amount of memory the device has built in. I have also ran it at 80 free megs before running the memory hacks but like I said, I have gotten the not enough memory error even with 105 free megs at the time. It always runs after using cleanRam....

Here is the link to download....Make sure to set to level 3 cleaning.

HAs any one tried installing the older tf3d? Its not that much different. Dissapointing to hear all these low ram stories.

Multipel memory threads out there.....

This one worked for me.....

HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/ResProxy

change ShareMemSize to 0

Thanks to MightyMike

NFS Undercover installs and runs properly after that. BTW soft reset after making the registry change.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

From what I have gathered from other members. If you disable TF3D, you should be able to run the game. And someone here made it simpler for you guys too. Install these 2 cabs and you should free up alot more ram. It will disable Push from TF3d but its worth it.

never had a memory issue with my tmobile tp2, even NFS or xtrakt. i think t mobiles may be layed out a little diff. i.e. still having the same start menu and im sure a few others......

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

There might be a mem leak but I dont know since I dont have a pro2. But for ppl having this issue with their Pro2, do a soft reset and try to run the game afterwards.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

I'm dying here with this issue. I had the game working last night and once today, but most of the time I'm getting mem error (probably isn't a mem issue). I've tried everything and have hit a brick wall on a possible solution. I did get it to work today by disabling haptic feedback in TouchFlo, but then I couldn't recreate that situation so it was probably a fluke. Any help is appreciated.

Then most likely its something you recently installed. Install memmaid and see whats runnning in the background. If nothing cures it, Hard Reset and carefully monitor what you install.

heres memaid. Its a trial.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

When you guys can't get it to run, click off the error & then slide out the KB & try again in landscape mode.

If THAT doesn't work, try disabling TF3D & then starting the game.

Did you try the program I linked to on page 1????? Like I have said in prior posts, it is not related to the amount of memory available. It really doesn't matter as it will run at 70 megs free or 120 megs free. You need to clear out your system first and cleanRam does that.

It runs just fine on my stock Telus TP2 and all I have done to affect memory is disable push internet. I still run TF3D.

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

I needed to turn off TF3D... but it ran like a champ after that.

What a beautiful game. Smooth. Fast. Awsome controls. Suprisingly responcive with the g-sensor. Too cool!

One question: Any way to play in landscape mode without the keyboard open?

Re: Not enough memory to run NFS Undercover

My only ***** with this program at this point is, I also have this same game in my 2nd gen ipod touch & for some reason the ipod version is 100 times better game which really annoys me.

Obviously, the high res graphics in the TP2 look nicer but the actual gameplay in the ipod is totally different. There are a ton of elements to the gameplay in the ipod, that they left out of the WM version........

I tried cleanram level three in one of my TP's that was giving the low mem error with NFS & it made no difference whatever so that is definitely NOT a cure-all.

I had to swap to a different ROM in that phone to get the game to run.......

You would need to reassign a hardware key to the rotate screen option. Not sure if the old button reassignment programs work, will try AEButton Plus and post my results.....

*** And here are the results..... AEButton plus was able to take over functionality of the Windows button (the one to the right of the Talk button) and assign it to "single press --- Start Menu" and "double press --- rotate screen".
After starting the game all it takes is a double press of the windows key to make the screen rotate and another to switch it back. Here's the link to AEButton Plus for purchase.... http://ae.inc.ru/aebplusbuy.php

Mine works flawless by doing this. CleanRAM, and disable TF3D. Also it is the g-sensor version.

I sometimes have the same issue as well, just reset the device and it will work. Kind of a sorry way to do it but you'll be playing.

I did this, I soft reset, and ran Clean RAM (Level 3). Hell, I even ran it in landscape mode, and disabled TF3D. No matter what I do, I get the low memory statement on my Verizon TP2. I have it installed on the main memory, not a storage card. Would that make a difference?

I am convinced there are several versions out there. I have the real G-Sensor one. Perhaps the ones that work are non G-Sensor or hacked versions to make the G-Sensor work?

OK... the one thing you didn't mention was turning off the TF3D in the Personal Settings/Today screen and trying to run the program then.

Give it a shot. It was the only thing that worked for me. Its worth the effort, too. The game is great!

NFS g-sen is awesome IMHO.

The only thing that pisses me off however is I also have this game in my ipod touch, & the ipod version is 100 times better game for some reason (both the features & the game play blow away the WM version)
