Mac and Tethering?
Hi gang. I have been a reader for many years. Just recently got my Sprint TP2 and a new job that forced me to switch to Mac Book Pro. I actually like it a lot, but need the tethering I used on my Dell laptop.
Has anyone been able to tether their phones via a Mac with the usb cable? I know the wifi router app will do it but I need to save battery life as much as possible. I have googled, and found some really old stuff that will not work. Any ideas, links, or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Mac and Tethering?
I'm certain that bluetooth tethering takes less power than wifi. Go here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78019 and download the stealth mode Internet sharing. Once downloaded, open up the new "Internet Sharing" program and select bluetooth. That will start the transmitting.
From there you are on your own. I know it works over bluetooth with a mac but I tried to set it up with a friend's mac and no go. Interface for bluetooth was too confusing. I'm totally not a mac hater to begin with either (SARCASM!). |
Re: Mac and Tethering?
I was able to get my Mac to work with the Bluetooth PAN on my Mogul. But, I'm not abel to get my Mac to recognize the TP2 as a PAN. I've seen some murmuring that this may actually be a Snow Leopard issue - as I never tried PAN on my Mogul with Snow Leopard. The HTC Wifi Router works like a champ though. But, it will suck the battery much quicker.
