Anyone have good luck installng htc wifi router with the verizon touch pro 2... I have tried the one that incorporates it with your com manager and it told me that I dont have permission to install that program... So not sure if I have the right cab or what... any help would be awesome, Im sure others might be having the same issue.

Will this support USB ICS as well? Or do I need to be looking in a different direction for that?

Thanks,

That's a different cab. I installed one but it's not 100% working (activesync still tried to connect and I have to hurry up and kill it to get the phone to connect as a modem).

Hey Janko10, have you used the cab you attached very extensively? I just ask because when I try it doesn't always connect to Verizon (I have to stop and start the connection several times) and/or it will disconnect on it's own after it's connected and the status will continually say "connecting to Verizon Wireless".

No I only tried it for a bit and it seemed to work ok. I'll try it some more tomorrow and let you know.

I tried that first & couldn't get that one to connect (to VZW) at all. The HTC program - integrated with the Comm Manager - would be the ideal solution.

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

You have to exit the comm manager by holding down the X or even better use a taskmanager and close it out then install the cab.

8, the cab I posted has worked great for me all morning. Good connection and haven't been kicked off. Used it with my Lenovo T400 that has an Intel 5300 N card in it.

How does the HTC version compare to WMWiFiRouter? Any pros/cons either way?

Hmm. I can use ICS to get my laptop online via USB, and I can connect wirelessly using WiFi Router, but can't get online? Any tips? Thx

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

I installed this on my TP2 with bad results.

It created the wifi access point fine, and I was able to surf with my laptop at good speeds. I left and came back and the internet would no longer connect (laptop or phone).

I tried everything from soft rebooting, to removing the application, to calling *228 (reset the phone), and even manually setting up the verizon data settings. Nothing worked. I just could not establish a data connection.

Finally I gave up and did a hard reboot and restore and my data connection finally worked.

I really need a reliable way of setting up a wifi access point but dont want to risk this fiasco again.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Can't say I have. Did you change any settings in Network Connections when you were using it?

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

To be honest, I think this is a terrible time for anyone that wants to tether their phone. We are a month after the first release of the MyFi, which is the device providers are selling now that JUST does internet sharing and if you have a provider that's releasing one or thinking about it, you're either having continuous problems or are going to. If any potential buyers are out there, give some serious thoughts to our smaller providers like T-Mobile who does not limit your data, nor your ability to share internet (with the exception of their 10Gb monthly "limit" at which they throttle down your speed to avoid abuse).

As a side note, I shared the hell out of my internet (comes in handy at hotels) in August, and came nowhere near that 10Gb limit.

OK, I risked it and reinstalled the program. I havnt had the same problems as before, but I cant stay connected over wifi with my xbox. Even worse, if I plug my phone into the charger, connection always stops immediately.

Not sure if you guys are still having this issue but I think I may have solved it. This is what I did to get it working again, run Wifi Router and connect using your computer. If you get an internet connection then go back to wifi router and make sure you press stop (in other words make sure you properly stop the app instead of just pressing the X)! Not sure if this was just a coincidence but it finally solved my network problem. Hopefully this will help you guys.:)

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

My PC sees the network with HTC Wi-Fi Router, but it can't connect. I have several options on my Linux system: is the WEP key a key or a passphrase? Is it open system or shared key? Is it ad-hoc or infrastructure? I'm doing something wrong but I can't tell what it is. WEP is turned on in my pc, and the pc sees "WifiSharing" but it won't connect.

As soon as I posted this I connected :) In Kubuntu, it defaults to entering a 'passphrase', you have to change that to 'key' and then enter the value from the phone. Also change 'mode' from 'Infrastructure' to 'Ad Hoc'. the other settings were left alone. I'm connecting from the phone now. yay.

does sprint charge anything for this service? i use a company phone and cant have any extra charges on my account.

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

i would stay away from it. unless you pay for the new version, some people (me included), had to hard reset to fix the phone's data connection. better off just usb tethering.
but no, sprint has never billed me extra for tethering. search for stealth tethering to make sure you do it right and sprint will probably never know anyways.

I had the same problem with wmwifirouter. ^ But I like not having to use a cable. Been using a cable for years up until a couple of weeks ago. I dont know how I survived without a wifi app lol.

Re: HTC Wifi Router with TP2

if you can't live without it, i've heard the paid newest version doesn't kill your data connection...
