TP2 sensitivity to usb cable?
 

I got my TP2 yesterday and have been playing with the for a few hours. I've noticed that the usb connection is VERY sensitive. If I touch the TP2 it will loose connection to the computer. I also have to be careful how I have the cord laying on the desk to keep it connected.

I can move the connector ever so slightly up and down and when I do this it will connect/disconnect from the computer. There is no side-to-side movement at all.

Basically there is no way I can hold the TP2 and use it while connected to USB.

Is this normal?

i had this problem with my touch pro and found it was a bad cable. something was loose in the cable and caused it to become unstable when it was moved the slightest bit. have you tried another cable?

If the cable swap doesn't fix it it is a bad contact on the USB port. I'm having issues with the one on my Touch. Having problems connecting tp PC and worse, having problems charging.

I have not had this problem with my TP2, it is not normal. I have had this problem in the past with older phones, and in every case it has been a bad/cheap cable. I have about 2 dozen mini-usb cables laying around from different sources, and have figured ones that are good for plugging in ps3 controllers, good for mp3 player, good for phones. Some cables don't support the charging of the phones, but transfer data just fine, if it's a device that doesn't draw power.

I also had this problem and it turned out to be the cable that came with the phone. I used a blackberry mini usb cable and the problem is gone!

Good to know that it is most likely the cable I got with the phone. As I don't have an extra of this type of USB cable I'll have to go get one to see if that fixes it.

Does BestBuy, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack sell them?

Have the same problem here with my Telus TP2 phone. Connection is loose, had to try with 3 other brands of cable before I found on stable.

I don't have this issue either... And it shouldn't be normal. Besides not touching your phone while it's connected :D , I would probably try a different cable. If that doesn't help, you can get it replaced from your carrier, if you'd like.

When I had this issue with my mogul, my port on the phone was jacked.

Before you go and buy cables, ask the sprint store if they have any extra.
