Windows Update - Not working

I've been running my TP2 for a week or two now and thought I'd run the "Settings -> Windows Update" program to see what updates MS has ready for the Rhodium.

When I attempt it I get the error message: "Connection to upgrad server was not available. Check you data connection settings and ensure the device date and time are correct."

I've checked and I have a Internet connection and a cell signal. Must be something else? Anyone run into this?

TIA,
F

I'm SHOCKED it's not working. This is totally unexpected and hints at something significantly wrong here, there's been a bunch of updates as of late.

/sarcasm off

Windows Update has never worked on any device in any universe, ever.

Don't ask why it doesn't or why it is even there. I think it is MS just taunting us, but yeah, it's never going to do anything, ever in a million years. :???:

I could maybe see it working for the 6.5 update but probably not. Most likely we will have to go to our carrier's site like usual.

It worked on my TP and even downloaded 1 KB.

On the TP2 it's is just plain failing, let alone not finding any available updates.

Windows Update doesn't work, won't work on 6.5. The carriers tend to block it so they can dictate features on your phone.

Microsoft is trying hard to get Windows Update to work (probably on WM7), and to push out updates that won't require a ROM flash but for now that icon is useless.

Oh come on now, I'm sure it's not MS locking down the phones. It's the carriers, they love the control.

I thought the button was supposed to magically transform the OS into that of the iphart. Oh well....

Actually we're reading this wrong. It's Windows Up-Date. The function is to advance the clock a few seconds, in real time. You click the icon, wait 5 seconds and wow ! the time increments by 5 seconds!

Windows Update did retrieve 1 update for me on my Touch Pro 1. It was simply updating the system to account for Daylight Savings Time. That was the only update I have ever seen through that feature.

Did you have to manually kick off the update or did MS push it to you? (Glimmer of hope for the future of MS :-))

Can you let Exil3d make his own posts?

And as for me, the only update I ever saw through Windows Update was the Daylight savings one that was already mentioned.
