need help! having a problem with the notification of text messages
 

so far i love my phone but after the first day i got my phone i noticed i had a notification that i had one unread text message. so i went thru my messages and didnt see anything. so i decided to just to go ahead and erase all of the messages. i even went under drafts,deleted messages...etc and still there is that notification. please help it driving me crazy. last resort is doing a hard reset. thanks in advance

If you have a registry editor, go to HKCU\System\State\Messages\SMS\Unread and change the value of "Count" to "0" rather than "1" and that should fix it for you. Had it happen to me once and changing that data fixed it for me.

the tp 2 suffers from the same problem the original did...the htmlnote.dll is bad and doesnt let go of notifications properly...

My text messages are not coming in at all today, i received a couple very very late....First time i had issue with Sprint..Just got Pro2 a few days ago...Any help?

Do you have a copy of a good htmlnote.dll that fixes the issue? Or does it have to be cooked in? Thanks in advance

The currently posted version shows that it contains the "Conficker.gen (Worm)" payload. This was detected by my gateway device, which is usually fairly accurate.

Is it a false positive, or does the .zip file really have a worm?

The version on htmlnote.dll posted there seems to have a side-effect of email not opening. Juggs, does your version have similar issue?

it is indeed a false positive...and no my file does not have the same side effect...i have zero issues with it...and as far as the file goes...i zipped it up and uploaded directly from my phone...

ok I just tested myself on lasted mighty - seems to work just fine so far - just did a quick test message - If there are any issues I see I will post but so far so good thanks juggs - you have no idea how much this drove me nuts - just like my tp1 now - thanks! I'm really surprised this hasn't drove more people nuts - I wish mighty would build this in

hmmm - The texts are still not marked as read until I hit the OK button. Still better I thought my TP1 once you replied to a text it would take off the bold and light would stop blinking. Now it won't mark them as ready until I click ok. Before I replaced it I would have to click ok and then go back into it then ok again. Still better but not perfect... I was pretty sure my tp1 marked them but can't remember now... Anyone?

I copied the htmlnote posted here to windows and now i cant open any txt messages......what do i do? did i do something wrong?

The most recent TP i had replaced by sprint (3-4 weeks ago) before i got the TP2 had the same problem, with not marking them as "read" even when they were... I think it's the new update software as the TP i had before the new one didn't have that problem. I am facing the problem still with my TP2 and it's annoying cause like you said, you have to go back, ok, back, ok then it's clear...

Hi there everybody, I am having this problem too. I have a touch pro 2 from US Cellular. Now I downloaded the new dll juggs posted, I couldn't get to the windows folder when my phone was plugged into the computer. Maybe it was something I didn't check, but I can see some folders, just not the windows folder. I am not sure if that is normal or not.

So I placed the .dll into my documents folder, then on my phone using the file explorer I tried to copy/paste into the windows folder. It wouldn't let me overwrite that .dll. It says deeeeeenied.

Am I doing something wrong here? It wouldn't surprise me...

Search for Total Commander. It's another file explorer program that will allow you to copy it. The phone file explorer won't let you just copy things to the windows folder.

EDIT: It doesn't look like Total Commander can either. Try Resco Explorer.

Ok, I downloaded resco, copied over the .dll and threw it in the windows folder. I then restarted my phone using the reset button behind my battery cover. I dont know what reset that is called. However, that didnt work, so i took out the battery and restarted it that way and its still shows 1 unread message. So I dont know what to do...

Can you try the registry method below. Note though that this might be a temp fix only which might not stick after receiving more texts.

HKCU\System\State\Messages\SMS\Unread and change the value of "Count" to "0"


If that doesn't work, do you have a previous backup of your SMS/email via SBP backup or maybe sprite back up. Restore the one before you seen the issue. This is what I did to fix mine.

Azn, I never got around to trying that. I did however find this program that worked for me. I had to restart my phone and then I ran the program and it worked. Hope this works for you. So far so good, I just ran this, so I haven't received any texts yet.
