Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

Maybe it's something I've installed that's not liking the phone, but I've had more than just a few application crashes and WM asking to send a report. It seems to be more than just your normal crashiness, so who knows. Maybe it's that I have the crash reporting enabled and this is normal for WM phones.

Anyone?

Oh, and just a piece of news if anyone hasn't said it yet; HTC has officially announced that the TP2 is eligible for a WM 6.5 upgrade on Oct. 6. But who knows when carriers will unleash it. If Microsoft had their way, I would imagine that The Tour, Rhodium (W) and the Touch 2 would all have updates available on launch day from every carrier that sold them. Come to think of it, judging by the apparent OS QA testing Sprint has done with the TP2, maybe WM 6.1 is a stop-gap backport until October. Because seriously, the TP2 won't be available en masse until then anyway.

I haven't had an app crash yet. It has to be a setting, a program, maybe a bad flash (you should hard reset), or just bad hardware...

Yep, I even get device.exe crashes.

Also, an annoyance is the task list being empty when some apps are actually running; for instance Opera. Maybe I need to do hard-reset.

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

tmail.exe, gwes.exe, will crash and sometimes, when I reset the device, WinMo will hang at the point where the CDMA radio is initializing (no reception signal displayed) and TF3d doesn't start. At that point, I have to soft-reset with the stylus...

DID any of you perform a double hard reset before full service of the phone and are still having these crashes?

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

mine is doing exactly the same plus i got the crprog.exe crash like crazy
also my keyboard on the letter d i have to press down hard for it to type the letter d.

Do you think wm6.5 will be available for the touch pro 1
and if there isnt a official release is it possible to port the wm6.5 to the touch pro 1?

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

6.5 on tp1 now is probably better than what MS will release... only thing your missin is the sense aspect of it, but that can be had now too...

dbl hard reset, your joking right??? first, just turning the phone on the first time is the eqivilent of a hard reset....

hard reset on unboxing is just as much a myth as battery conditioning...

no crashes or freezing yet... i hope it stays that way. i bet some of the tweaks found here are causing it.

Yeah, HTC announced all that when the TP2 was announced like 6 months ago.

On Oct 6th, Sprint, Verizon, etc. will announce which phones will get the update and hopefully a time frame. It's no secret that both Sprint/Verizon have working WM6.5 test ROMs already or that U.S. Cellular is launching theirs with WM6.5.

The only reason we didn't get WM6.5 now was cause Verizon/Sprint we're obviously racing each other to release.

Yea ive experienced some crashes also, and i have figure out that on my side Net framework causes the crash every time i install it, but then when i uninstall Net framework i no longer get any crashes.
Well its really time for a custom rom about now, but we just have to wait a little more for the Unlocker.

Just an hour or so ago I had some unexplained crashes when trying to go from portrait to landscape then tyring to access the onscreen keyboard. It did it like 5 times in a row, so I just soft reset and it went away, Kinda weird

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

Yes, lots of crashes. I even did a hard reset when I got it in the mail. I started a thread about the largest item that crashes for me, manilla
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=83120

If anyone finds a resolution, please write in. I am not sure if I should consider an exchange, only have a limited time for an exchange with Sprint.

think im gonna try that.. i setup using sashimi and i know for a fact net cf is the first cab that installs

**edit** this makes since with some of my crashes.. ex.. i was getting an DesktopApp.exe crash - thats WAD2, needs the higher netcf to run..so i removed it from sashimi altogether.. thats what i think alot of my crashes were really from was different process from WAD2 failing... because i would be in my messages and at one point i got like 15 tmail.exe crashes in a row yet my messaging never shut down...

**edit2** hmm.. still getting services.exe, calnot.exe, calupd.exe,manilla.exe, crashes all on reboot.. guess i need to start looking up what apps some of these are tied to

and to above, i dont think its the rom, i know full well its something im putting into the device thats causing MY issues

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

I've had the phone for 8 days now and not once had it freeze/crash, or act weird in anyway. I've installed the disable SMS message sent, clock enabler and crystal clock, BG for all pages, tsowen's taskbar, no top curtain, personalizer, and hide Sprint Logo.

Everything is running like a sowing machine so far. Only 3rd party application installed is 1-Calc.

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

uh yeah, ive got about 50cabs installing lol

device runs fine with just a few things... however im not gonna sit around with a bare device while i wait to be able to flash ROMs...

it take a little while longer for me to place it, but i should be able to fugure out whats causing it... ive done it all, with and without manila, and i still get it.. so... back to the drawing board

**edit** took out netcf35, touch response, and task facade... ran sashimi...success!!!! NO CRASHES ON REBOOT, every single one-GONE!...finally... no to go work on a different prob, but that with sashimi and another thread..

I have the tmail.exe crashing a lot...
I'll try a hard reset.

HanDBase is the only application on my device that has reset and that is an issue with their software, which has been brought to the developer's attention.

There are some programs that are listed in the registry to not show in the task manager by default, Opera being one of them. A hard reset won't change that.

manilla.exe crashed in the first 5 minutes of my playing with the device out of the box. Last time anything crashed though.

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

Mine has crashed (kinda) like 3 times in about a week. only when say im on the internet and get a phone call. it doesnt seem to like that at all. or i am on the net and get a SMS. its like it tries to load the call screen but the net overrides it or something. In most cases i dont end up getting to answer the call but i close the internet and when i go to open it again it wont load and so i have to restart the phone...

other then that no not really "crashy" for me

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

I finally exchanged my phone, never had anymore issues and I am using the same apps. Can't say for certain, but I think it was the phone hardware.

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

I can crash it by going to All Contacts and opening the Events screen. Wait about 5 seconds and Manilla crashes. I don't know if it's something I've tweeked or not, but I did a hard reset when I got it. I'm going to live with it a while (assuming we are just a few days away from the 6.5 release).

I believe I have had only one crash, but non since then.

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

I was getting occasional crashes but once I installed the Cleanup file, it disables error reporting so I never have to see it happen anymore...the crashes do not have any noticeable effect on my phone otherwise...

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

I have not had any crashes with errors. The only issue I have had with either of my phones was WunderRadio closing without any notification when I would try & open a stream. Aside from that, even with customization my OS has been pretty solid

Re: Anyone else's Sprint TP2 really 'crashy'?

Manilla.exe crashes on me consistently. I called Sprint and advised them I had done several soft resets and also did a hard reset. this does not fix the problem. Sprint is sending me a new TP2 overnight. They even discovered that I was charged incorrectly on my first TP2 so I will be getting a credit for over 120.00 as soon as I send it back to them. So in a sense I actaully made out better. A Brand spankin new phone, money back and hopefully no other issues.
