Verizon or Sprint? It's been confirmed to NOT work for Verizon. If you have Sprint it should work. Wish there was a fix for VZW tho.... at work I have crap for VZ service. --Chris |

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I've tried this on Verizon in many different areas and it always just starts searching for service and never finds another carrier to roam on.

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
Thanks so much for posting the fix for this! Now does anyone know of a quick (one-touch?) way to get to these settings, rather than going to settings-->communications-->phone-->CDMA services-->roaming
??? |

Sure you're getting 3G on Verizon? Last time I checked Sprint's roaming agreements with Verizon included only 1X data, not 3G. |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I'm bumping this most useful tweak for those of you that have updated your ROMs but are still missing this feature.
I tested it with Mighty Mike's ROM and it works great. |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
Did you use the cab or edit? It's 4am and not sure which one to pick from lol.
|
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I used a phm to edit the registry per the first posts directions.
It's much easier than it looks if you've never done it before. |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I just went w/ the cab file since I can uninstall it.
So what this tweak does is that it gives you more option in Settings/Phone/CDMA services? |

What forced roaming allows you to do is to stay on the stronger signal network. Your phone will disregard trying to get back on the Sprint while you're on the call. Very useful. Unfortunately it only works on Sprint as far as I know! |

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
someone figure out how to get Data Roaming Allow in a custom rom that removed that option
|
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I'm told this only works on Stock rom.
Thanks again guys. |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I can say for a fact this doesn't work on Verizon. I have tried in multiple areas and it can never find a roaming network. This is why I have a cheap prepaid SIM card to go onto the AT&T network if I ever need to Roam.

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
It added two additional entries something "phone" and that was after the 3 entries, I removed those and soft-reset. Working again. But, when I goto roam only, it never connects to anything. I know we have roaming here, must be something else. I verified that I have the three entries, as referenced in OP.

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
Hey Bundo,
I thought that when you added the forced roam lines in the reg and left it in 'automatic' mode, the addition of the forced roam would prevent hopping back to the sprint network after it had switched to a stronger signal. Does something else need to be done to make this work on modded ROMs? I thought automtic + reg edits = automatic forced roam. Am I wrong? |

Anyone have any luck being able to Force Roaming on a modded ROM? |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
It is really useful if you want to get out of your contract. If you use more than 50% of your minutes on roaming network, sprint will kick you out :D

The registry edits worked perfect on my stock ROM, but when I tried them on my MightyROM they don't work. Could it be because MightyROM uses Windows Mobile 6.5, and in 6.5 the registry entry to force roaming is different. Just wondering. |

You are the man. Roaming works perfect for me on Mighty with that cab. Now if I can get a good Mode of Operation I'll be set. Reppppppped.

I installed the ForceRoamPlusPhoneSettings.cab and got 5 options
Home Only Automatic A Automatic B Standard Roaming ONly What are the automatic A and B? |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
Hi, for those of you having the issue where you install the force roaming cab and it just searches for a signal (I'm on a Sprint TP2), I fixed it with one more registry edit:
HKLM/Software/OEM/PhoneSettings --> AllowRoaming change from 0 to 1 for some reason, my phone was set to not allow roaming, when I changed this, I can now force roam. |
Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 phone and applied the registry values for forced roaming. But, alas, they don't work. The phone still locks onto the Sprint network even though the signal from that network drops out. I'm guessing that Sprint has done something to prevent roaming to occur.
