Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
I have a couple of questions for sprint TP2 owner:
I have two lines of service and both are due for a full 2yr upgrade. I need to cancel my second line. So is it possible to buy a TP2 on my second line, cancel the line, and activate on my main line? Would they take away my upgrade on my main line if i do this? Anyone who has done something like this before...i really want to buy a phone today and canceling this line before the new minutes start. Thanks in advance |

Re: Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
It dosent sound that far-fetched. I dont se why you wouldnt be able to do this successfully.
The only concern which comes to mind is the MIR...which requires that the phone be active on the line you ordered it on for at least 30 days. If you dont care about the MIR, then id say, go for it. Oh, and an ETF may also apply if you are still in contract. Not sure about that one though... |
Re: Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
Why would you upgrade on the line you want to cancel? That will renew the contract on that line and then your main lines sitting out of contract yes but you still will owe early termination fees on the second line?

Re: Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
As mentioned by AstainHellbring since you renewed your contract in order to get the $150 discount you have to accept a two year agreement. Having ended your renewal contract prematurely you have to pay the cancellation fee.
So $600 - $150 (2year agreement) = $450 -$100 (rebate) $350 but since you cancel early you can't get the rebate and you paid $450 + $200 cancelation fee = $650 . You might get lucky and they won't blacklist the ESN but you just paid $650 for the phone and even if you decide to sell it on ebay you will get at most $550 (best case scenario with clean ESN) $550 - $650 = - $100 on the red for you. You won't lose the upgrade points ($150) on the first/main line but it's pointless based on the $650 you actually paid for your TP2. thank button is to the right |
Re: Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
I dont have an issue with paying the fee it belonged to my bf who switched to verizon and agreed to pay it. Both lines are still under contract. The reason i want the upgrade is for another for (pixi) that hasnt come out yet that i may keep or sell...my tp is possesd lol it blinks a white and black screen and vibrates for no apparent reason. I guess i'll try my luck with retentions. Thanks to all who replied

Re: Sprint TP2 Esn switch!!
I doubt they'd blacklist the phone. Its not like youre stealing it or performing insurance fraud or anything like that. If I were signing up for a new sprint account and purchased a phone at a new customer pricing, and then decided to cancell my contract 2 months down the line, would they then blacklist the phone I purchased fair and square? Of course not. They would just hit me an ETF. A Sprint phone with an acceptable or 'clean' ESN is more valueable to Sprint than a blacklisted one, since it has the potential for attracting new customers and/or the return of old customers.
If your BF is willing to pay the ETF, id say go for it. Save your upgrade points for the device you really want. If i were in your shoes, I would probably do the same thing. But that is just me...;) |
