Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 - Dead Pixels!

I appreciate your perspective, but don't think comparing dead pixels on a modern LCD screen to some of the things you've listed isn't very fair. The fact is that there are competing devices that have a low instance of this failure, which tells me that there's something about this particular screen that giving it a higher failure rate. I really think I should be able to turn on the screen and have 0 dead pixels, i.e., I don't think dead pixels are the expected norm.

Will you guys that have the TP2 do the following and post your results?

1.) Open camera
2.) Cover the lens so the screen is black
3.) Examine your screen for dead pixels
4.) Reply to this thread the number (if any) you find

Thanks

I guess I'm lucky because I see no dead pixels. I've changed from my Treo 800w to this Touch Pro2. I've been on this thing for hours, and I'm not even at 50% battery drained yet. By now my Treo would've been dead. Thus far I'm loving this phone.

Coming from a Treo 800w with abysmal battery life and the little screen, this is like a slice of cellular heaven to me. I've got a little wobble when tilting, but frankly it is so slight I don't see it as a defect. And I don't like using tilt for my typical use. I can see using it to watch a video and that's about it for me.

My stupid tp2 happens to be defective of all the tp2s out there :( My sprint tp2 keeps losing track of my sd card. I pop it out then back in, it reads it for about 2 minutes, then all of a sudden it reads no card installed. telesales will be shipping a new one tomorrow unless i happen to be missing something simple but i doubt it.

Check your SD card. Mine did the same thing on my TP, so I salvaged the data and did a surface level format, and it's been fine ever since. Also I learned to never use a SD card right out of the package. I always format it a PC first, run some scans on it, then use it.

Hmmm...

They're stickers... They come off lol.

I think the OP is one of those people that leave that shipping sticker on the screen untill it falls off.

People like me think of these things (guns and phones) as tools, and I will buy a new gun, go out and shoot it, lay it down on the ground, and go check the target. Others, well, you know..............

yup, only woman can complain about cosmetics, I don't see how there's so many people crying over a chip in chrome and trying to get replacements. Big deal

If Exil3d is truly interested in maintaining a list of official issues that have been confirmed I'm sure he will remove #3 (Sprint) Keyboard slides and tears the plastic stickers that protects it from scratching the device

Those stickers are clearly intended as packaging. The TP2 I just received has no signs of any of the listed defects. Neither of my TP1's experienced any issues that I considered to be defects. The most annoying thing I ever have to do is reboot my devices about every 2 days to ensure to performance. That is something to do with the Winmo software, and is expected on that type of device.

If this one holds up I'm going to upgrade my other TP in about a month.

It would be a lot better if there was a way to quantify the issues in the first post.

For example, while I'm not thrilled about the results of the poll below, it at least provides some level of data to back up the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/poll...ts&pollid=1599

My device had one dead pixel which I noticed on a black screen in the dark. Being that I am a freak with imperfections, I ordered a replacement from Sprint over the weekend. My new device should be here today. Hopefully it will not have any dead pixels or I will have to settle for the better of the 2 of them. I think any normal person wouldn't even notice it or even know what I am talking about even if I was to show them. But that is what seperates us geeks who are also the ones who will be purchasing this device.
