If you go overseas you can buy a local SIM card there, put it in your Sprint TP2 and use it. No need to unlock, or patch anything. The only reason you would need to unlock, or patch anything is if you wanted to use your Sprint TP2 on a GSM carrier here in the US, but it's ready to go for overseas.

sweet! just the info I was looking for...

So, if i want to use a US sim card I need to hack it, but if i want to use an over seas or abroad sim card (of course while over seas or abroad) then just pick up a local one and i'm good?

Is the sim card that comes with the phone good for anything? Other than paying $2 a min to sprint? lol

It used to be good for something when they offered the $40/mo international unlimited data...pro-rated to $2/day. But that has been discontinued since early last month.
