I am using 2.04 and out of no where without any changes my landscape mode seems to be working fine. I was messed up but the last couple of days it started working. Weird.

On another note, this thing is eating up my battery. Anyone know what could be causing this in S2U2? My battery life was awesome before I installed this. Now I have to charge it a couple of times a day to get through the day.

Thanks.

FYI for everyone who is noticing that this issue mysteriously fixes (or breaks) itself. This is tied in with the driver issue me and GoodThings2Life have disccussed a bit previously, and I will tell you some things that can trigger the mysterious change.

If you use Coreplayer or TCPMP, these apps seem to "force" the phone to run in rawbuffer mode. hence, S2U2 will suddenly work fine in landscape.

Opening the camera app "forces" the phone back to direct draw mode. Hence, s2u2 will look messed up in landscape again, even if you had set it to raw buffer mode.

There may be other apps that trigger it as well, these are the only ones I've been able to confirm thus far.

This is purely based on how you've configured it. Try the attached "safe" configuration that I use and see if your results don't improve. This already has the RawBuffer and KeyBoard hook settings enabled, and uses battery-friendly defaults.

You can change some of the appearance settings (like number/appointment settings, but don't change any of the Power, Phone, or Advanced settings.

Post back here if you have any trouble with this file.

Re: S2U2 Landscape

You guys might want to try PocketShield for your locking duties instead of s2u2.

I always used & love s2u2 when I had my xv6800/titans. That all changed when I moved to the TP however.

I found s2u2 to be extremely buggy in the TP & I must have tried 10 different versions of it. I was posting the problems in a thread that was about 10 pages long from other people having the same problems when someone suggested trying PocketShield instead of s2u2.

I tried PS & was thrilled with it. It is bug free, much lighter (s2u2 has gotten awfully bloated) & doesn't negatively affect battery life the way s2u2 certainly can. I have run PS ever since in 4 TouchPro's & now in my TP2 & it works perfectly in all of them.

I'm all about alternatives... but S2U2 is still the best in terms of functionality and simplicity, in my opinion. I tried PocketShield for a week and hated it. Didn't like the skins, found it too complicated to make new ones, and didn't have the notifications functionality that I actually depend on... I guess one man's bloat is another man's lifesaver! ;)

Besides, there's only a few minor bugs between 2.04 and the TP2, both of which are being worked on. Still, it's great to have alternatives, and the more the merrier! :)

I agree, it is nice to have options.

Personally, I could care less about skinning a locking app. I would much rather have a light weight bug free app than one that looks cool PocketShield unlocks so fast by light in the latest versions I'm not even sure what it looks like anyway). There are about 4 pages of downloadable skins on the PS site that will DL & install completely automatically also if that's what you're into.

The latest PS has basically the same notifications as any other locking app I think (I can't think of any it's missing at this point)

Good to know! :) I'm sure they've improved it in the year now since I tried it.

I can confirm this... Some software will change the render type and that will affect s2u landscape. I can't confirm issues with performance thereafter... but depending on what software you opened last it could cause the landscape mode to work (or not - Directdraw vs rawbuffer).

Re: S2U2 Landscape

Okay, so A_C just sent me the 2.05b beta to test for him and the results are working so far. There's a new added display mode: GDI, which is what seems to be working perfectly and not affecting the landscape at all, at least, I can't get it to break. I'm testing the battery poll on it, but so far, it's working just as it should. 2.04 did have a much larger battery poll because I have 2 TP2's both with S2U2 installed and I left them on over night. 2.04 finished with 60% battery this morning and the 2.05 had 90%, which is where the ROM I'm using comes in during the morning, and both TP2's had the same exact settings via registry, as they used the same .cab to install, but the S2U2.exe is replaced on the 2.05b cab. He seems to be adding a few things as well, one being that you now see the photo of the contact that sent you a sms text if you have that enabled, I haven't seen that before in the previous versions, so it's coming along.
