to be honest, as long as it plays video as smooth as my tp does, I'll be happy. I really want the thing to watch movies on. I have money.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but RAM does NOT, i repeat, RAM DOES NOT make *THAT* much of a difference.

For example, the difference between DDR2@800 MHz versus DDR3@800 MHz is about 1-2% in real world scenarios, and naturally, that would include a faster bus speed as well.

I haven't read the rest of this thread yet beyond this post (about to read up on it now), but this gave me pause as you are spreading about misinformation.

Don't mean to come off sounding rude, but RAM and bus speed alone can NOT make that big of a difference, especially when the RAM is virtually the same, and the system bus by many accounts is nominally tweaked.

Drivers on the other hand CAN make the difference, and in this regard, the OP is on the money.
Unfortunately however, he was also correct in pointing out that HTC is unwilling to fork over the extra buck and some change to pay Qualcomm for the appropriate 3D drivers (and/or chipset) to accompany their phones over the past several generations.

I am reluctant to believe that HTC has changed their ways, but would love to read otherwise.

Im just waiting for the Nvidia Tegra chip to come out for mobiles phons.....i doubt that HTC will invest the money in that though

Your posts are extremely annoying and misinforming.

The TP2 is so much faster than the TP1 it's almost insulting. Have you even used one?

I'm happy that you're all nerdy about the 3D driver being missing and you like to go in every thread trying to announce it and get attention, but no one cares. The phone BLOWS the TP1 away in literally every aspect aside from the lack of an LED. Not even comparable.

Also the lack of a D-pad. I use that d-pad when I'm driving or trying to navigate the OS with one hand... Bigger screen, better keyboard, the conference call system and the supposedly faster speed entice me, but I'm kind of upset that with each iteration HTC makes their flagship phone more and more like the iPhone, and less and less useable by people like me who consider touch screens only useful in certain situations (namely, when you're sitting down and have two hands available, and ready to ignore the world around you).

Something that Gten mentioned alarms me, though- I though the TP2 was supposed to have BETTER battery life! The new wireless radio chip is supposed to be more efficient and not heat up (a warm chip is a clear sign that power is being consumed at an alarming rate), and also be more efficient with battery. Is this not the case? I haven't seen any reports stating the opposite... That would be another hesitation on my part, since the TP is *just* battery conscious enough to get through my day. Any less could be a deal breaker.

No no no.......... don't get angry. Its the truth. I played with 2 version of it yesterday and I left feeling like I just played with my Pro 1. Tf3d2 is a bit faster but everything else is almost 99.999999999% identical. You know.. some ppl want to hear the truth and not fantasies in how we all wish its 10X better than the PRo1. Common.. seriously?

With all this, I think I will hold off on using my $150 upgrade credit for the TP2, and instead see if I get a TP2 if and when my TP1 craps out as a replacement.

I have read tantalizing rumors that FAR more powerful phones are due for Sprint in ~Q1 2010, and they seem like a far better use of my upgrade credit.
