Re: telus multi party callin

yaa...but one of the futures thats suppose to be with the tp2 is multiparty calling, as in select the contacts and call all of them at once

crash6 08-10-2009 11:45 PM

Re: telus multi party callin

Thats because it doesn't actually call all of them for u, you select the ones you want to call then it should pop up a wizard on what to do for combining all calls

Re: telus multi party callin

Telus crippled the conference calling feature. They killed it. The Telus Touch Pro2 supports only 3-way calling... with no special interface.

This was the Telus email reply:

Quote:

The Conference Calling feature is a network feature that may or may not be included in the monthly handset package. It is not a handset feature.

I replied,

Hi Francis,

Unfortunately, you are mistake in this case. This is a handset feature on the Touch Pro2. The HTC Touch Pro2 features a unique Conference Calling interface as part of the WIDELY advertised and talked about "SmartTalk" feature set. From the Telus page on the HTC website: http://www.htc.com/ca/product/touchp.../overview.html

-------------
Conference Calls … Made Easy

Before today, the simple task of multi-party calling required the nimblest of maneuvering around your phone menus. Now, HTC Touch Pro2 introduces a new worry-free interface that makes multi-party calling as easy as tapping on your contacts.

Straight Talk™

Nothing ruins a conference call faster than not being able to hear what is said, or make yourself heard. The HTC Touch Pro2, featuring Straight Talk™ technology, puts crystal-clear sound quality and voice reception at the core of its design. In fact, it is a palm-size professional conference phone with a loudspeaker and dedicated noise-cancelling microphone that delivers superior quality conference calls.
-------------

This feature was one of the major selling points for this phone. I happen to know for a fact that many many people are upset about this, as a member of several online communities.

Why would Telus cripple one of the MAJOR selling features of this phone and not inform their potential Touch Pro2 customers?

Everyone should email Telus and raise a stink: MobilityClientCare@telus.com

once we get custom rom's going, I have little doubt that if it's not a network dependant feature, that it will be brought over for some CDMA trials...

Re: telus multi party callin

That feature is a network feature, the rep is correct. What you guys are trying to accomplish will not work with cdma phones. I was already expecting this. No matter how many emails you send it will not change. Also to what someone else said about choosing a different phone, thats why you have 30days to exchange it.

Telus and every other North American provider can go to hell with their fees and high rates. I'll of course happily take it up the tailpipe to the tune of $150 a month (it's given back to me via reimbursement) but damn Telus versus Sprint or Verizon is like night and day difference.

Re: telus multi party callin

i call telus they have no idea what it is...and refer me to htc, and the rep from htc was the most complete idiot i ever talked to on the phone......tellin me its ur on a call and u press flass call another person and come back to it......i told him they had that out since 3 way calling came out, and his answer to that was ya i dunno why they're advertising..........all that coming from a rep from htc...worse tech rep ever

p-slim is correct. Multi caller feature is available on gsm models only, cdma only has three way calling. This info is in the manual.

Guess I'm puzzled why anyone would think the CDMA standards in Canada would change just for one little phone. Heck we can't do multi-party conference calling on our landlines either unless you get a PRI / T1.

Filed under would be nice ... but on the other hand, if they COULD do it, can you imagine what the fees would be like for a 5 or 10 way conference call hosted on your TP2 --- ? (!)

Re: telus multi party callin

So let me get this straight? Is CONFERENCE CALLING (The persons picture comes on the screen) or more then three people TALKING disabled? I had an N95 before I switched to the TP2 and I Had 4 ppl on the phone with me TALKING. Conference calling is an extra feature you have to pay extra for, and I think only 2 networks in europe support it and then Rogers.

However we should be able to add more then 2 ppl into a call together at once correct?

What if we were using this on the rogers network?

I don't know about the rodgers network, but with any cdma network you can only conference in 2 people. Now if one of the people i conference in decide to call someone else and conference them in, then that will work.
