Clicking on links is not bad but not easy. Link clicking with you thumb takes a zoom in at times (because it is a resistive screen it'll probably stay that way... will never be as easy as say a droid phone, iphone, etc capacity screen phones.) The version of Opera I am using employs a few tricks to help. Link highlighting (green box appears around the link,) seems to really help. Can I just say again (I know this has been shared before) that this keyboard is absolutely the best keyboard I have ever typed on! i need an inbrowser spell checker for opera mobile now! |

Re: How's the browser?
I have skyfire loaded up and it works just fine. The positive side is it zooms via finger tap faster and easier than Opera. Page loading is fast but not as fast as Opera. The zoom bar does not work in Skyfire like it does it Opera. As a matter of fact the only app that seems to have the ability to zoom with the zoom bar is Opera... and not the beta version either. As far as look of Skyfire it works and looks great. It seems to support the larger screen of the TP2. Experience wise Opera is much better in my opinion. If you want flash though nothing can beat Opera. Hopefully 6.5 will allow another software solution which does track your usage for adertising gain like Skyfire does with flash support. Let me know if I can answer anymore questions.
Upon further use of Skyfire I noted that the experience is a bit grainy. The VGA screen on the TP2 is obviously not 100% supported. Add in the fact that the zoom bar is not supported and I would say the experience of Opera is significantly better even though there is no flash present. While Opera is great they don't allow you to chance default search engines which really sucks bad. Typed on my TP2, pardon any mistakes. |

Re: How's the browser?
this is a guess but I would think it would be hard to scroll your bookmarks in opera mini. When I do it on my diamond with my finger, the bookmarks just move position. You need to use the D pad to use it.
Anybody have experience with this or got it working. |
Re: How's the browser?
I hate the browser... but hey, that's because the only thing I am comparing it to is the iPhone. Problems include:
- when I scroll, it keeps moving long after I've removed my finger. I can't stop scrolling by tapping screen - when I click a link and it doesn't recognize it, it does a random page down, making it extremely annoying to find your spot again - the zoom slider is a must, but unfortunately, only the STOCK version of Opera works with it - Skyfire, IE, and Opera beta does not work with it - double-tapping works inconsistently (as does the slider) - sometimes it simply does not register - filling in text fields is frustrating - I click the spot, and it doesn't recognize it... I find touching links basically unusuable unless I slide out the keyboard and navigate using the cursor and enter key ... thought I'd give a balanced perspective since this thread was full of positive comments. The above points make browsing EXTREMELY annoying. |
Re: How's the browser?
Very informative and I am glad you pointed this out. What is the version number for opera on the telus version of the tp 2?
