Yes, that is a misconception that the old touch pro has a newer CPU. The video above, the person only gave out public specs and has no knowledge of the details. The reason why it has a newer ID is because it was a gimp CPU made around the Broadcom patent. Its newer but not better..that is why the difference is only a 1...

The older one is suppose to have better video playback. Which makes sense considering the large screen :)

Also I heard the TP2 fixes the overheating issue...

It still doesn't do the dishes though :/

I am for sure, I just laid down almost 6 bills (my plan wasn't up) 2 months ago for the touch pro because I was fed up with my mogul, now the TP2! I'll be laying down the regular price again :/

I reviewed the TP2 and I didn't mind the lack of a DPad. Yes, the camera isn't that great, but it's not really a camera phone.

Re: TP2, Who's getting it for sure?

I'd like to say I'll definitely be getting it but I said I'd definitely be getting the Pre, until it came out and I got to handle it. But this time I might actually do it because everything I felt was wrong with the Pre is the opposite on the TP2. It has a large, high resolution screen, huge keyboard, runs WinMo (although I don't have anything against WebOS, in fact if a Pre 2 came out that was the same hardware as the TP2 then I'd be waiting for that) and has an awesome development/hacking community.
So Sprint, when can we get our grubby little mitts on it???

Re: TP2, Who's getting it for sure?

I tried the Pre (two of them) and they both had signal quality issues. I'm back on my Treo 800w with my extended battery, with my upgrade date reset to 7/1/09, and will definitely be getting the TP2. I cannot wait!

Re: TP2, Who's getting it for sure?

Is the Sprint TP2 the same as the T-Mobile TP2 (aside from T-Mobile customizations / GSM radio)?

I saw an article about the T-Mobile TP2 on Engadget a couple of days ago and it didn't look like it had the 3.5mm jack. The screen also looked the same size or smaller than the screen on the Sprint TP1.

I'm pretty sure you are mistaken about the screen size, but not about the 3.5mm jack. You can definitely tell by how many rows of icons you see here: http://gizmodo.com/5325189/t+mobiles...gans-august-12 on the screen compared to about 2.5 rows on the original TP.

I wanted the Pre, but I'm not sure if I want to swallow the price of the plan. I'm on an out-of-contract SERO 500 plan right now, and it's too nice to give up. I think I'll be signing a new 2-year contract when the TP2 for Sprint comes out. Hopefully it's not $300.

Hell, even if you just kept the exact same ol touch pro and put a 3.6 inch WVGA screen on it that would be enough for me to want to upgrade. I'm still trying to decide between the TP2 and the Omnia 2 though :S, that 5 MP camera and 30 FPS video recording on the new Omnia would keep me from having to carry a digital camera around with me. I may have to flip a coin to decide if I'm gonna get the AMOLED screen and better Camera, or the physical keyboard and tilting screen.

The processor on the phone I hear is a 65nm version and not 90nm that's on the TP. Meaning smaller die size = less power requirement = less battery consumption = less heat! I hope the specs remain true from the ones that I've seen before!

I know for sure that I'll be at Best Buy and Sprint at the same time looking for that phone. I'll park my car in the store if I have to! NO ONE LEAVES TILL I GET MY TP2! :headbang::protest:

Re: TP2, Who's getting it for sure?

I've somewhat changed my mind about getting one early on, after seeing the host of issues popping up on the Rhodium forum at XDA. Everything from software to hardware. Some guys are on their 4th one already due to loose / floppy screens, for instance. It looks like the batch they got, at least, has got some serious issues. I don't know if I'm ready to go through the months of issues and patches that I did with the Mogul, which I still have and at least is now stable and consistent. I dread going back through all the issues again. So maybe I'll wait and see how the Sprint one does, until AFTER the "new" wears off and people start bring up the issues. I remember how "in love" everyone is with a new device, but then reality bites as time goes on.

Maybe it has something to do with the "branded" versions? Cause I'm using my TP2 for about 2 months and so far no issues... It is still a great phone!
For example I just can't live without the noise cancellation feature anymore! lol!

LOL, that is so true. I got a Mogul when I signed up with Sprint 11/07 and then got the TP1 on release date. Love them at first then they became obsolete and sluggish. Oh well, I'll be getting the TP2 from Sprint no matter what the result is

Re: TP2, Who's getting it for sure?

I'll be getting one. Haven't done a "subsidized" upgrade for years as I typically buy them NIB on Ebay. Let's see how this all plays out for the pricing. I'm liking the TP more now that it runs WM6.5, but the battery life is a constant problem for me.
